I've made a black forest cake from scratch in my youth.... it was a lot of work if I remember correctly, but it was delicious.   It's chocolate cake infused with cherry juice & whipped cream with cherries.  It's not a heavy cake.
I hope you get to try it...

I"d like to try honeycomb cake, I love the honeycomb candy.

I have never made the honeycomb cake ,but  have made the Black Forest cake and it is a little work but after you make several it is not so bad making it. In fact thanks for reminding about it. think I will make it Monday for potluck at the ministry . Won't even have to go to the store  I have all   ingredients.

 :glasses-nerdy: :silly: I've had many kinds of cakes in my life, but those two that you listed I've not tried yet. They sound good to eat. I wonder how the honeycomb cake is made though.  :glasses-nerdy: :silly:

Cake is a part of my life!  I've never had a honey comb cake.  I believe it's an Indonesian treat.  I've worked with puff pastry on one occasion and didn't enjoy the experience one bit.  I also don't care for the dry texture of it in other pastries so probably wouldn't be my thing.  I just made a gluten free cupcake cake for my Mom.  She turned 83 and recently mentioned she always wanted a Llama. So I made her one Neopolitan of sorts.  3 flavors, vanilla, chocolate and strawberry with a unique citrus buttercream.
