DWI traffic stops
« on: September 01, 2018, 07:21:43 pm »
I sat for 20 minutes at a stop. At first I was frustrated, but to see that 3 cars ahead of me were stopped for "issues", I am not sure if it was someone drunk, no license or inspection needed, but I was glad that the police was ticketing those people, especially if they were drunk.  Be safe this weekend.

With Uber I don't get why people even TRY to drink and drive. It's not safe, you could kill someone, and if you have to drink that badly, then UBER home!

The police do checks each time there is a holiday weekend.   I've had to sit in traffic waiting but I don't mind, especially if they find someone who has been drinking.

I totally agree with you.  Made my daughter fly this weekend instead of doing the 5 hour drive.  I trust her but not others on the road.  Was worth using the points for her to fly

Nothing against your friend and her boyfriend personally, but why in the world should it take 6 times for that to happen? I can't be the only one who thinks that should happen after #2 or #3?

Regardless, I hope that he is able to get some help with that problem - for his own sake and those he comes into daily contact with.   Everyone be safe out there!

Sometime these stops are an inconvenience but most times they help protect others.

I don't drink and drive.  I think it's stupid to put your life in harm and others who are out driving not knowing that someone stupid is putting their life in harm. >:(

I known of drunks that have had as many as 13 DWI, then went out of drove one way on the free way and kill 5 people because of being drunk.  Brought to justice,  But I sure when he get out he will do it again. It is hard for the law to do much with the Indians here, they can't  go out on the resveration  to  pick them up. the tribal police  have to do it and if it is public land where  they were drinking they don't do anything about. No wonder so many of them get killed driving drunk.

They do traffic checks every weekend around here, not just the holiday weekends. In fact, they double up on holiday weekends.  They remind everyone by putting the roads they'll be checking every Thursday in the paper as a convenience to people who don't want to sit in one. Problem is, they choose very long roads and you never know where on that road they're going to be and most of the time, there's no way around them. :)

My brother in law was T-boned by a guy who had 4 DWIs.  Luckily my brother-in-law was not hurt.  Totaled the mini-van though.  It was a good thing my brother-in-law was alone, no one was riding with him.  It could have turned out bad.
