I've gotten some bad bread from a store chain before and I didn't return it but the last time I visited I made sure to tell them about it.

I've had to a couple times but at times don't feel like driving back so I just forget about it.

I'm the same way; I've had that to happen with fast food too but after paying $7 for a Wendy's chicken salad only to get home to see that there was not one chunk of chicken in the salad I must develop the habit of checking my food before I leave.

I haven't had this problem lately but if it's bad I will return it.  Once I purchased cherry ice cream and it didn't have any cherries so I returned it.

I returned some chocolate fudge sauce the other day, when I opened it, it didnt pop open and it looked like someone had stuck a spoon in it and took a big hunk out, when I got the new one home, it did pop, but also looked the same, so apperently it was when they were filled, they didnt do a good job of filling to the top

I'm not sure what you are returning, but I have never done that.  I check to see if you the food has gone bad before I leave the store.
