Returning Items to Grocery Store
« on: September 15, 2018, 03:55:18 pm »
I have shopped at the same chain of Grocery Store for over 30 years.  They always had the best selection, best customer service and were the cleanest.  Rarely had to return anything.  Over the last couple of years it seems like I have to always return at least one item due to it being "bad"  Do you do this or just forget it and move on?  I have just thrown it away for lack of wanting to go back to store because of my health issues but that isn't fair so now I return them no matter how inconvenient.

It really depends on how much the item cost.

I will forget about it if it was not expensive. However, I am not going to give up much. I will return items to the grocery store if needed.

I rarely have to take anything back.  Since I don't drive, I have to get someone to take me to the store.  Because of that, I'm extra careful about checking labels and dates.
I have called the store to tell them about something I bought that wasn't good, and rather than have me bring the item back, they just took my name and issued me a credit to use the next time I shopped.

Yes I return things to grocery stores.  Never had a problem.  Sometimes I get the wrong item.  Only a few times I returned an item because it expired when I bough it.

:bunny:   :cat:   :dog: I still check the date's on food items at the grocery store. I've seen a few items that has past it's date, items that have been skipped during the items check from the employees. I shop for what I need this way I don't return any food items.  :bunny:   :cat:   :dog:

Depends on what you mean by "bad".  If it is spoiled I would take it back. If you let it sit in your fridge til it grows mold then no you should not take it back.  And yes, that happened at our Walmart.

Employees do not go thru and check dates on stuff on the shelves.  They are suppose to rotate and put the new stock in the back of the shelf so it somewhat gets rotated. But people tend to rearrange shelves. Canned foods are not going to sit on the shelf til they are passed the date.  Milk most people root thru and get the latest dates anyway.

i'll return the item no matter how long I've been going there, you paying for food and it's not up to standard, then taking it back is a priority. I don't have the best health either, but I will do what needs to be done.

Have returned items twice that I can remember once it was A1 sauce that was expired (husband never looks at dates) and the then a watermelon that was completely white inside when we cut it.  I think stores need to check their stock for expired items

This makes me laugh.  I work in a grocery store and read customer comments on our surveys regularly.    Check the stock of expired items - makes sense.  White watermelon - ewww I don't think so.  I would have returned that too.  However I would rather buy fruit and veggies from any farmers market or stand over any produce department.  White watermelon and pink tomatoes.  NOPE They are meant to be read inside.

There were a few times that happen where I had to do that was glad they accepted the returned item and replaced it for me.
