Who had Sea Monkeys?
« on: October 03, 2009, 09:08:49 pm »
Did you ever have any? I had some when I was about 9. I was really disappointed because I though they'd look just like the package NOT! They really grossed me out I actually ended up flushing them because I got sick of looking at those nasty looking things. I seem to remember they had these *bleep* on the end of them that looked disgusting to me.

Yeah, I had them when I was younger two or three different times. Each time I got one a sibling of mine would either dump them all over my bed, drank them, or spilled them else were. lol. It was traumatizing to wake up to a bed full of sea monkeys lol.

I had always thought that they were just a scam in the back of comic books in order to get kids to spend their money.   I never bought them but I do remember them.  Also, the x-ray glasses and handshake buzzer. Just things of yesteryear that we remember as kids.

All of us kids would sit with the comic books and look at those ads and dream of what we would buy if we had an extra $5 to spend. If we had saved our allowances instead of running to the 5 and 10, we could have bought some of our dream purchases, but that money burned a hole in our pockets!

What is a sea monkey? is this a fish?

They are actually brine shrimp.  They still sell them to new generations of unsuspecting children.

I never had any sea monkeys. When I was a kid I thought I would like to get some. I actually thought they were sea horses. I found out later they weren't the same thing.

Yeah go to Toys R Us or any other toy retailer and they still sell these to the kids.  My daughter has been asking for some forever but I wont buy them for her and she doesnt want them bad enough to spend her own money on them.  They are gross and I have never heard of anyone actully keeping them alive for long.
