Why doesn't he shave as often as he use to
« on: October 30, 2018, 06:40:15 pm »
Since my husband turned 67 he retired from his full time job and has taken a part time job. I don't understand why he does not keep his face clean shaved like he use to. I bought him an expensive electric shaver thinking that would help but it did not. He still sometimes looks terrible. Is shaving your face that much of a problem?

Yes it is and since most days I don't even leave the house, why not just be comfortable?

Not shaving, for me, is more a sense of freedom-an untethering of the work bonds that enslave me on a daily basis. I work between fifteen to twenty hours per day, seven days a week. Four of these days are spent working from home. I celebrate this little breath of freedom by not shaving one of my days in the office and the four adjacent days. I also where shorts, tennis shoes a baseball cap, t-shirt, sweat shirt and an athletic watch in celebration of being away from the establishment. My family is lucky if I shower during that four days. Shaving is just one more five minute daily step that I can skip for five days which equates to thirty hours given back to me per year. Life is so short-the gift of over a day per year is a blessing. At age sixty seven, I think your husband has earned some time off.

Shaving is a huge pain. I rarely shave my legs anymore, but my husband never complains. I have blonde hair, so I guess that helps.

Shaving legs is annoying, I bet having to shave your face every day would be worse. It's your face! If I were him I'm sure I'd want a break too.

Does it make him happy? Are you feeling prickly when you kiss him? lol .. I don't like the feeling some times either but hey if he is happy with it and feels lax, let him be. If you are really bothered by it then tell him. :)

All I can say is that since I retired I shave my legs less often and now wash my hair every third day.  I can remember when I would have called you crazy if you had told me this!  In the day, I made sure i shaved my legs frequently and washed my hair almost every single day.  I couldn't stand the feeling of having a little hair on my legs and my hair not freshly washed.  Now, the hair on my legs is growing more sparse and slowly, and while staying around the house more, I simply don't want to be bothered washing my hair so often.  Maybe all these posts will give you some insight into why your husband isn't so interested in this grooming!!

I hate shaving my face. I even cut myself really bad once and had a scar as a result. If he's ok with not shaving, let him do his thing.

If he's comfortable, I feel it's ok.  If he stopped taking showers then I would get concerned but shaving or not shaving is not a big deal or the end of the world.

He's retired and wants to hang loose.

My mother in law is always on her husband about shaving. My wife  asked me once and I did. That was 25 years ago. She hasnt asked me since and I shave when I feel I need to.  :peace:

Yup irritating but sometimes it is the cost, I didn't hoard razor blades when the time when the hoarder brains stated it was a good idea to stock pile these list of items, (and razors was on the list) I was able to, had the space too, but no. You know the aged razors would be okay to shave because I seen old ones, I am sad about that.

Just ask him, maybe he will if he knows you think it is important.
