How long does it take you to get to work?
« on: November 28, 2018, 05:53:15 pm »
I live in the VA/DC area and I have to wake at 5am (leave at 6am) to be at work at 7am. How long does it take you to get to work?

It takes me four minutes to get to work unless I get stopped at one of the two red lights we have in our town...
Have a wonderful day!

Five minutes. Long enough to start a the coffeemaker for my first cup of the day.  I've worked at home since 1988 with a brief brick and mortar job between 1993-1995, then solidly at home until 2010 when company downsized. I'm still trying to replace that job but no luck yet.

Up until five weeks ago my commute was about six minutes. The office was four miles from my home so I could take my bicycle, scooter, or fifty three year old jeep to work. My company relocated to a location that is now about eleven miles from the original location and goes through three major areas of congestion. We were all given free public transportation passes and a shuttle picks us up from the various stations but this absorbs an extra thirty five minutes a day in transfers. One nice thing about this company is that they let us work from home two days a week. I get more done on those two days per week than I do during the other three days spent in the office. The training for my day time job took eighteen months and is on going but other companies in the area would pay me more for the same knowledge base.

My commute is from my bedroom to my kitchen. One of the perks from working at home.

It takes me about 15 to 20 minutes to get to work. I read this article once about a lady who commuted 3 hours to work everyday for a total of 6 hours back and forth. I couldn't do that.

Commuting for 6 hours to and from work, can be counter productive in some cases.
Gas, stress, wear and tear on the vehicle; etc.

No work outside the home for me right now!  :) It takes me about an hour to wake up fully, drink my tea, and then begin my few hours' worth of cleaning/caring for everyone, though, haha. After that I get online and see what pocket change I can make on my sites.  :star:

As long as it takes me to roll out of bed, and put on the coffee.

I am retired.

About six seconds from bed to computer, if I don't stop to pee.
