KMart closed

The last of our KMarts closed Sunday, with sales of 90% off.

   Walmart took over with better products and customer service.
   Lesson learned: In a highly competitive world, you have to watch
   what your competition is doing...just to remain afloat.

Our  K-Mart closed last. Which is a shame  for those who have no car here. We  don't have a department store of any kind  now. Just  a Family  Dollar and a Dollar General plus a  high cost grocery store, Oh we  have a couple of drug stores and a farm and ranch store and Tractor supply. Well that doesn't help  a lot. Walmart is  80 miles away.  so I order  a lot of stuff and then shop for when we go out of town for  Doctors appointments. Oh well the  Joys of living in a small town. at least we don't have as much crime.

I used to enjoy shopping at K Mart.  Ours in New York State has been closed for more than 5 years now and I really never missed it.

First Kmart and now Sears. It is difficult to fight Walmart.

yes ours closed a couple months ago didn't even know. my son happened to go there got pants and a shirt for a good price. he used my 12.00 in points didn't know I had that much.  don't think it lasted through Christmas. I liked shopping there to. they never had good prices on food though.

They closed where I live a while ago.  I honestly thought the whole company went under and then I saw Christmas ads from them.

I didn't even realize KMart was still in business... the KMarts here were closed or converted to SEARS a long time ago.  Their business model was outdated & their merchandise was nothing unique, sad times when businesses close, but hopefully some thing else will come along & fill the space.  ALDIs, a trampoline place & a CRUNCH gym are where the old KMART used to be -- where the parking lost was empty with KMART, now it is packed & busy.

It sure is a shame what happened to Kmart and Sears. They were once great companies but they've really gone downhill.

With increase in popularity of online stores, many physical stores probably have been shutting down as a result.

Walmart wasn't KMart's only competition: amazon didn't help them any either.

After many years of being in business our K-Mart closed down as well. We also just recently leaned that our Sears will be closing down in March. I feel so bad for all the employee that now have to try and find another job.

When I was a teenager back in the dark ages, K-Mart was cutting-edge. You could play 45's on a record player to see if you liked the songs.  Had a lot of fun at K-Mart.  I sound very old.
