cable or not
« on: March 03, 2019, 11:26:25 am »
Do you have cable television or do you have streaming services? I had cable but since I started streaming, I have saved hundreds of dollars. I miss some shows but that is ok. I sometimes find them on one of the streaming services and get to watch them there.

I cut my cable off because the cost was getting so high.  I now have an antenna that lets me watch local channels and I also have Netflix.

We canceled Directv a few years ago. The price just kept going up as they removed more channels. And we would have rain fade even on sunny days. So we canceled it, bought a Roku and signed up for Sling TV, and we've been happy ever since. We also use Netflix and Amazon Prime, plus a few freebie Roku channels. It's a third of the price we were paying for Directv.

We have direct tv. Considering getting rid of it to save money. However, my husband watches so much TV he is not yet willing to give up some of his shows.

I am one of those few people who have never subscribed to cable TV. I just have a smartphone and cable internet. I don't miss cable TV at all because I usually only watch news programming on regular channels plus PBS. There are also a couple of shows (Madame Secretary, This is Us, Call the Midwife) I like but they are all over-the-air shows.

Had cable for a while, but dumped it. It was way too expensive for the fact that we only sort of liked a couple shows on it. We have lots more choices with streaming and even basic tv now has some good local channels.

Since there was no other service in our area and antennas never gave us reception I had to stick with cable from 1983 on up. Went through Warner, Time Warner and Comcast. I now have Comcast/Xfinity and have had nothing but trouble since they installed Xfinity. Cable would go out once or twice a month through picture freezing, guide freezing, or other problems. The constant prices raising every 6 months finally got to me. Two years ago, the cost was going to be over $200 so I called to cancel. (I have the triple -phone, internet and TV). Well, they gave me a deal for 2 years on contract for a $55 saving. At the end of last month, I started losing phone and internet at the same time every day. Called every day and finally threatened FCC/FEC complaint. Hasn't happened since. Isn't that funny?

Anyway, my contract is up in December and I'll be gone. Since I'm so far behind this tech stuff, my kids are helping me learn and will be setting me up with "something"  else. I did check on Sling TV and they offer all but 10 the channels that we watch nightly.  So we'll see what happens.

While using streaming, do pictures pictures freeze a lot? Because I'm fed up with cable doing that.

I cut back on other things so I can still afford to have cable!

I have cable but I'm really thinking about getting rid of it because the price continues to go up.  I rarely watch tv anymore and don't think I will miss it.
