Paid to Listen to Podcasts

Is anyone else here a podcast junkie? I have several that I enjoy listening to on a regular basis and many others that I listen to on an infrequent basis.


I just came across an app called Podcoin that will pay you to listen to podcasts if you download the app to your iPhone or Android phone. They have access to just about any podcast that you would normally get from any of the other podcast players/apps. The playback options and features are much more limited than what you would get from the mainstream apps, but you can at least get the same content.


It will take a while to earn enough credit to cash out (for gift cards, not for straight PayPal cash), but if you're like me and already listen to some podcasts regularly, it might be worth the switch.


I'm not going to post a referral link in here (you can earn extra points by referring other new users) - but you can find it in the app store or google play - or sign up through their web site podcoin.com.  I started using it over the weekend and will say that I do miss some of the flexibility I had with my old podcast app.  But - it never paid me anything back either!

I've been intrigued by podcasts recently and was considering finding a few to listen to. Knowing that I could get paid to listen, I think I just became interested.  Thanks for letting us know about this.

Well, I am still figuring that out - it looks like it kinda depends...   You can get $2 Amazon for 1200 points; $3 Dunkin Donuts for 1500 points; $5 Starbucks or Amazon for 2000 points; $10 Google Play or Target for 4000 points. You can also donate to certain charities if that's your thing.


You get anywhere from 1 to 2.5 points for every ten minutes that you listen - the point rate depends on consecutive days of listening to the app - they call it 'streaks' - a lot of that is explained here.




EDIT:  They also appear to have a 'sister app' that pays you to read books - I'm guessing that you have to download and open their e-books because it is another smartphone app.  I am not sure how they verify that you are actually reading them, I haven't looked into that one yet to find out the details.  Maybe you just have to have it open for a certain length of time - not sure.  It is called Readercoin.

It is just like a radio show or talk show but it is saved in a file and you download it.  Charles Stanley has his sermons on podcasts and you can download them and listen to them.

Now readercoin is something I'm definitely going to check. I love reading, although I never seem to have the time anymore. Thanks for the info!
