Feeling Sad
« on: March 13, 2019, 06:12:28 am »
Yesterday I had to put my one cat down.  He had end stage kidney failure and there was nothing they could do.  I had him at my vet and an emergency/specialized vet.  I'm also dealing with another one of my cats who has pancreatic cancer.  Took her to my vet and an oncologist at a specialized hospital and got the same answer, nothing they can do.  So far she's ok, but it's a waiting game with her.

Nancy how old are they? You know i understand the love we have for our pets.My wife and i are still not over losing our dog.Hang in there. We have to understand God didnt make animals to live forever as he did humans.I myself am still trying to grasp that after the heartbreak losing our dog.

Man is made in Gods image.Animals arent.

I am sorry for your loss.  Our pets are definitely part of our family.  It will take some time and you will never forget him.  Take care of your other one so you don't lose her as well. :( :cat:

Sorry for you loss.  Just had surgery on one of he dogs to remove a spindle tumor that was cancerous and just hoping that it will not grow back.  There is a only a 7% chance that it will which is good odds.  It is so hard to lose a pet as they become part of the family

Probably won't.  I had one that had a growth on his leg that was cancer and it didn't grow back.  Seems like they said it was possible.

Seems to be like more dogs are getting cancer these days.  That makes me wonder if it has to do with the crap in the foods.

hitch, I'm really not sure how old they are.  All my pets (dogs and cats) are rescue.  We got Harry (the one who died) from a shelter a few cities away.  He came to us with kidney problems.  We knew he would eventually die from this, but we didn't want him to spend his remaining years in a cage.  He was SO happy when we brought him home after spending 4 years in a cage.  I swear he walked non stop around the house for 2 days and was so excited to look out of Windows and see birds, rabbits, etc.  We had him for 3 years.  Heidy (cancer) got her from a shelter about 3 hours away.  Found her in petfinder. Another sad story.  Our vet estimates Harry about 13 years and Heidy about 14.  We were told vets can be pretty sure with young and senior pets, but the middle of the road is just an educated guess.  I know you understand the loss of a pet and I hope you and your wife heal soon.

The day before I lost my parrot, Barkley, he was sitting on my shoulder leaning up against my neck and then he wrapped his wings around me. I think he knew the time was near.  They love us as much as we love them.  You have given your cat a good life and will continue to do so until the end.  Now, seven years after Barkley died, I still get tears in my eyes when I think of him.

Nancy5, I am sorry for the loss of your precious furry friend.  Pets definitely become members of the family.  I hope you have some pictures to help keep her memories fresh.

If she had a collar, I have seen people wrap the collar around a small ceramic pot and plant a succulent plant in the pot.  An idea for you.............Hugs!

Aw, I'm so sorry for your loss, Nancy. Kidney disease is way too common in cats. And I'm so sorry you are dealing with another sick kitty while you are grieving. :(

It's so hard to lose our pets. I still cry when I think of my babies that are gone. Thank you so much for rescuing, especially pets that come with health issues. Even if they lived hard lives before, you're making up for it by giving them their best last years. The most important thing is you gave them the LOVE that they may have never experienced before. (((Hugs)))

Animals know when they are close to dying. That is why dogs go off by themselves.  People are the same way except the don't go off by themselves.  People who are really sick, or elderly, they know when the time is getting close.

Thanx Nancy.I can tell when you have a pet you must be the world to them too. After our son rescued penny from a lousy situatiion the 10 yrs we had she was treated like a queen.I reminded my wife thru the tears that.I only wish she could have hung on a few more yrs.She was 12 altogether and i feel she got cheated a few yrs.I know we tried to extend her stay and i am glad we gave her a great 10 yrs.

It was just so moving that Penny passed between my wife and myslef on our bed when she could have i think passed 15 minutes prior being under the bed.But she came out and she was so uncomfortable i prayed to God he would intervene in some way.It seemed he did and it seemed very appropriate her being between my wife and i and Penny looking directly at my wife who she thought the world of.

My apologies for re-living this again.Certainly a day and the way it happened marked me for life.

it's always hard to put an animal down, but the good, fun memories do last.

It's always hard when we lose a beloved pet. Somehow the idea that they are no longer suffering doesn't make it any better, does it?

Maybe it's too soon, but consider honoring the memory of you cat and adopt another one in need of a home. It's not replacing if you are saving the life of a shelter cat who might not have much time.
