Asprin a Day?
« on: March 19, 2019, 03:46:12 am »
Has anyone heard that taking a low dose asprin a day is no longer recommended?

I have been doing it for over a decade because my diabetes doctor said I should, but now I am wondering if I should look into stopping.

I have to take a 325 milligram aspirin every day due to my stinted, coiled brain aneurysm.   My husband takes the low dose aspirin for his heart condition.
Have a wonderful day!

You need to ask your doctor.  Some recommend it.  Others do not.  Taking any meds every day is bad for you.  I know a man they had him taking I think Aleeve every day.  He done this for a few years.  It destroyed his Kidneys and Liver.

Taking pain meds is not good for you.  And people eat them like candy.  I remember a few years ago I was working on a job and a co-worker wanted something for his stomach and I had some Tums.  I also had some Tylenol.  Another person saw me giving him the Tums and saw I had Tylenol and I swear walked over with her hand out.  I just looked at her.  No, she didn't need it.  She just wanted to take it because it was there.

That is why you do your own research and use some common sense.  It is not good to put chemicals in to your body every day.  It's like the guy I mentioned above.  His doctor told him to take Aleeve.  He said he was in pain.  I guess they gave him that instead of hydros.

I had a doctor several years ago gave me something (doesn't matter why) but instead of a script he gave me a 30 day free sample that the drug pushers left for him to try.  I questioned him when he gave it to me.  ( I do not remember the name of it ) but anyway the warnings of side effects were pretty scary.  And when I asked him about it he got really mad.  "I am not going to give you something that will hurt you"  Well a family member took it and had a heart attack. Which was one of the warnings. smh

It has since been pulled from the market and is not allowed to be distributed in the United States.  Any time I go to the doctor and they send me home with a script, which is not often, I immediately start googling and researching myself.  I am NOT one of these people that just trusts whatever the doctor says.

Lately my theory is PRAY HARD and trust GOD to take care of me.

I saw that about the asprin and I will have to say I was not surprised. They always recommend things then change it. I don't believe in doing everything that is recommended and I also believe in moderation. I take vitamins maybe once or twice a week but not every day because too much of anything is not good for you.

There is nothing wrong with taking vitamins every day.  It is not a chemical or pain med. And your body just flushes out what it doesn't need.  Which is why it is foolish when a doc puts you on 100,000 mg of Vit D twice a week.  smh

The problem is they do this stuff and they do not know what the long term effects are.  Kind of like the new drugs they come out with.  The Oxycotton everybody is addicted to.  That was orig for end of life cancer patients then they started giving it to everybody for the slightest twinge.  Some say they, at least the makers, knew how addictive it is.  The doctors do not care.  I believe the get a kick back for how ever many scripts they can write.

I saw a doctor a few years ago and the nurse ask me if I was taking and prescriptions.  I told her no.  She laughed and said "well you will be when you leave her today".  That made me mad.  She didn't even know WHY I was there.  Before she left the room she told me that this doctor puts everybody on something.  She was right.  I left with 1 and he tried to do another that was injections there in the office and I refused.  The one he sent me home with I did not fill.  I did not NEED either of them.

Yep just read that yesterday - I used to do that but haven't since I got put on blood thinners etc for A-fib and CHF.  I was shocked to read that for sure.

I have been told to use at least one five hundred milligram tablet of aspirin per day in order to keep my blood thinner. I had a deep veinous thrombosis (clot) in my leg after wearing a cast for seven months. I was on coumadin and warfarin for the next two years which brought the swelling in my leg down to normal. After two years of being somewhat normal I took a desk job and, due to sitting stationary for long periods of time, ran into the same clotting problem again.  My doctor gave me a sample of a drug that worked really well but insurance would not cover it and I was not going to pay the exorbitantly high price for it. My Doctor said that aspirin, in the correct dosages would be just as effective. I als take a few aspirin prior to donating blood as my flood flows faster as a result.

I have never really found that a healthful habit. You can’t give blood to a pregnant woman within 3 whole days after taking aspirin because some oral medications can screw up a baby as that baby keeps developing.
