When I was a kid, probably about 10 years old, my poor father was sweating up a storm under our kitchen sink working on our broken garbage disposal. 

If that wasn't bad enough, it was my brother's wedding day and the ceremony was scheduled to begin an hour after all this mess.  Somehow, things all worked out just fine. 

Yes, I know what a garbage disposal is and how to use it. 

They do, however, scare me.    That's probably due in part from this otherwise traumatic experience.

Yes, I know how to use one.  No the sound doesn't scare me.  I don't have one but would love to, especially since there are no young children in my house.  We compost most of our kitchen scrapes but I would still like to have one.

I have and use my disposal regularly  and no the sound does not scare me.

Yes, I know how to use a garbage disposal and yes, the sound always scares me even though I know what it is. I am always fearful of getting my hand stuck in one for no reason at all.

The sound only scares me when I accidentally flip the disposal switch instead of the light switch in the middle of the night.

Yes to both questions as well. I use my Disposal everyday and it does not scare me either. I Love using my Disposal because it gets rid of all the stinky food where I will not have to put it in my Garbage Can and smell all of  those awful odors.
