Sherlock is fine for a rat name, but if he showed up in my house I'd just call him "Ewww!"  ;)

If you had ti put something like this as a post, you must be really bored and have nothing better to say than ask for a name for a pet RAT, now that's a triple EEEWWW.

I don't get it.

But I'm trying to remember... my best friend in high school had two pet rats when she lived with me, but I don't remember their names...

Rats are not EWWW. They're pretty cool. And affectionate.

Here are a few suggestions for your pet rat:

Templeton
Ratatouille
Ratatat

Although I would not care for a rat as a pet, I have heard they are actually good pets.  Here are some positive comments about rats as pets.

Rats As Pets
Rats are smart social animals and can make great pets. They usually live for about two years and can be tamed and trained, making rats fun for someone who likes to handle and play with their pet. While they are easy to care for, rats do require some daily maintenance. They thrive with a good amount of attention paid to them and at least an hour of exercise out of their cage is ideal. Often rat owners compare their curious rats to the fun and curiosity of a pet dog.

Rats are very social animals and tend to thrive with other animals. Keeping pairs or groups same sex is ideal, and males usually get along fine with other males. Keep this in mind when selecting names for your rat or rats; it can be fun to have a cohesive theme for all your rats, like multiple names of characters from one book or movie.

I  had a pet rat once.  He was white with black spots.  Called him Oreo.
