What Do You Hoard More than Anything Else?
« on: June 04, 2019, 09:01:33 am »
I have a very difficult time getting rid of clothing.  I can't even tell you why.  However, when I am looking through my closet and drawers, I will grab something to put in the donate pile and I will think that maybe I can wear it if I lose a bit of weight or that it will come back in style.  About 6 years ago I actually purged quite a few clothes but now I am back to where I need to again.

I do the same thing.  Even though I know in the back of my mind that I will never wear it,  I keep it 'just in case'.  I few months ago I finally forced myself to get rid of a bag of clothing.  (i'm running out of closet room)

Decorative and pretty things. I keep finding little trinkets and probably have more than I actually can use, but that's what happens when you are the the child of an interior designer who grew up watching decorating shows.

I guess for me it would have to be cookbooks.  I love them and will buy them quite often.  I might not ever use them, but I love to look through them and I don't ever want to give one up.

My would have to shower curtains and bath towels.  I change them quite frequently.  Another that I have a rule that if I have not worn it or used it a year then it is time to let it go.

I don"t hoard anything: actually I have Purple Heart come out like once every 5 weeks to make a pick up. I don't like keeping stuff around that I am not using.

I hoard panda bears. Anything panda - clothes, books, keychains, stuffed animals, etc. It's not terrible but I do have enough things that I could have a room styled in just panda things  :P

I hoard boxes and packing materials the most. You know when you buy something from ebay or amazon and it comes in a box with styrofoam, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, cardboard etc. I have tons of it from many purchases online over the years and can't bear to part with it because I feel it will come in handy to pack up something to ship out which it has and really did come in handy when I did some mass selling on ebay a couple of years ago. Some of the boxes are also bigger so I think I can reuse those for when we eventually move.

I don't really hoard anything.  I just don't donate things as often as I would like because it seems I'm always busy doing something else.  Most of the time I'm getting rid of all the junk my hubby brings in and that's almost a full time job.

I do not want to get rid of clothes that I do not wear. My Husband gets so mad at me because I have taken over his closet space. I feel like one day, I will wear them again.

I have a lot of clothes like that too, especially clothes from when I used to work. I am retired now and always go around in shorts and jeans. I haven't worn a skirt or dress from the time I worked 8 years ago yet I still have them in my closet. I too think well, maybe I will go somewhere where I will need a skirt. But that never comes up. Even when people go to church these days, they wear nice slacks, not skirts.

Whew! So glad I have something in common with someone. I have tons ob empty boxes that I save for when I want to sell on ebay...but I just can't get around to putting my stuff on the site. My books, steins, old pottery/bowls, beer mugs, and other stuff that I WANT to sell but never get around to it. Is there something wrong with me?

I'm still wearing clothes from the '80s! I don't know why. i have nice clothes that I bought and decided to "keep for going somewhere" which lately, I don't get anywhere, not even the store.  I often receive postcards for Purple Heart Organization that they'll be in the area, but never gather my clothes for them because "I might wear this outfit some day." We forgot to build closets when doing this house (except for master bedroom) so my clothes are in 4 large totes. separated by summer slop clothes and summer dress clothes...same for winter clothes.
