Jigsaw Puzzles
« on: June 04, 2019, 10:35:30 am »
Currently I am working on a 1,000 piece puzzle that is hundreds of different colored pencils and it isn't as difficult as I expected. My mom got me into solving them. Does anyone else here like putting together jigsaw puzzles? If so, what is the craziest or most difficult one you have done?

I like to put together all kinds of puzzles but haven't done so lately.  I really don't have a spot that I can start on one and leave it there for an extended amount of time.

We use to do jigsaw puzzles all the time.  Not sure why we stopped.   Happy you posted this, may have to get one and do it.    :)

We did them in the winter a lot but also stopped and not sure why.  My guess is that I hate seeing the dining room table cover in a puzzle. Maybe I should put a card table in the basement and do them there.

I love jigsaw puzzles. Once I get started on one, I can't leave it alone.

Years ago before the whole cable tv phase I would love to sit there and put puzzles together. I would also build 1000 to 5000 piece puzzles.

We keep a bunch at the cabin for rainy days, and I remember my grandma always had one started on her dining room table. I haven't done a jigsaw puzzle in years though. I couldn't do one at home, because my cat would probably destroy it and lose all the pieces before I could finish it. LOL!

I used to love to do jigsaw puzzles.    I haven't done one in years.   It seems these days I am always on the internet, plus I never seem to have a flat surface to use.

I use to love putting them together until I get a German Shepherd that liked to bump into them  :P

So now I just settle for doing them on the computer. At least it's still relaxing  ;)

It was one of my most favorite things to do.  Once I put together a 1500 piece puzzle of a lady with a black dress and black hair.  My hubby thought I was nuts.  After all that work, I glued it together and put it on the wall in the living room.  I have plenty of games on my phone because I enjoy working my brain this way and it's also relaxing to me.

I've seen mats where you can roll up the puzzle and it supposedly keeps everything in the place. Not sure how good it works, but depending on the price it might be worth the try.

I like to do jigsaw puzzles, but am not very good at them and due to this it's been a long while since I've tried one. My grandmother liked them even more and was far better at putting them together so sometimes I helped her do hers. She had a strategy of building from the outside in with all the edge pieces forming the outer square and further inward until she completed it in the center. Hopefully that will help others with their puzzles. I tried her strategy, but I struggled to be as quick and accurate and haven't done more than 500 pieces.

Your puzzle experience reminds me of when I was a kid and my mom and I put together a puzzle of all red and white candy canes. There was one large one, but mostly they were the same size. It took us a month and a half and we resorted to using the logic of what shaped pieces could possibly go in a spot (and then trying every one of that shape). We ended up gluing it together and putting it up on the wall every year during the holidays.

It's been a while since i worked on a puzzle but I think the last one I did was about 1000 pieces. I love doing them; just don't find the time to do it.
