You could get dizzy trying to choose from fast food restaurants around where I live in the metro St. Louis area. There's one every few feet. Typical of low income areas, I guess.  :moneymouth:

Most fast food places here have signs on their window about a week or two in advance to any remodeling or construction. It is unfortunate for those that don't go there often and think they can just swing-in quickly, only to find out they are closed temporarily.

We live in a small town, but we do have a few options - Wendy's, McDonalds, Burger King, Dairy Queen, and Taco Bell. It sucks when you can't have want you want but at least there's a little variety for when one is doing work.

When our BK remodeled no one knew it ahead of time.  They knew when they could not get inside and could only use the drive thru.

We started to go there for lunch but 2 buses pulled in right before we did so we decided we were not going to stand in line or wait that long.  May not have been that bad though because there are several eateries right there together and a lot of times people will walk to the places on the same side of the street.

The real problem is: "Hungry people...very hungry people".
There are not enough restaurant workers to handle them.

We don't have a Burger King in our town, but we do have McDonalds, Taco John's and Subway and a summer time only old fashioned drive in restaurant as our fast food choices.

McDonalds is currently getting remodeled.  I rarely go there so it hasn't been a problem for me.

The closest we have to a drive in is Sonic. lol.  We do have a little restaurant that I guess is a drive in.  They come out to the car and take the order and bring the food out to you.  It is really small and they do not have much.  They don't have the menus you can pull up to or speakers where you order like the old ones had.  I don't even really know if this place is still open.

I was a secret shopper for 5 years at the BK in another town. Pay wasn't  bad. It was my mad money. also  did it  at the sonic at the same time. But different days a couple of times a week. Which worked out great as I was working for health care and would be out of town. Come into town and stop and do my little thing and then on my  way home  with supper for 2 even if I had to order at  different time ( a few minutes  apart} Al I had to do was order the Burger taste it, record what I thought about it, the wait time and friendliness of the waiter  and check to see if it was clean and come home. Send in my receipt and  receive a check.
I do secret/mystery shopping too.  I hardly ever pay for most of my groceries and do lots of restaurants and retail stores.     i love the fast food stops, for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.  I take my Father with me a lot of times and he enjoys going for the rides.   I was involved in a 2 big inspections shops a few years ago for Taco Bell and McDonalds, both chains did major overhauls of the stores after that, but most of the stores did not close during renovations.

We have ONE BK in our area. Without warning, they decided to close to remodel the whole place. It's driving everyone crazy. McDonald's now has a full parking lot with people in line out the door and now taking at least 20 minutes to get waited on and it's no better with the drive thru.

I can't wait until they're open again.  Has that happened with your local BK?

Nothing.  They did remodel a few years ago but no one freaked out over it.  I don't care if they close completely.  Our BK is dirty, the employees look like skanks, and are too stupid to make change when you tell them what coins you are owed.  I have only been there a couple times in the past few years and the last time - was the last time I will frequent this establishment.

I'm sorry to hear  a few posts  on how BK's are "ugly." Our BK was very clean and workers friendly and squeaky clean.  As for too stupid to make change, it's not just BK. It's all over any service business that uses cashiers. They don't even know how to make change when the cash register tells them how much to give back. My husband had an incident last week but I forget what store. He gave the girl $50 for a $20 item. Instead of inputing the $50 into the register, she ran and got a calculator and tried to figure it out that way...which she failed. Couldn't even figure that out. She had to call the manager. So now my husband has crossed that store off his list because something that should take less than 2 minutes to do too almost 15 minutes.

We have all those options, too if we want to go 20 minutes away. There's only 1 McD's and 1 BK within a mile of here and a Long John Silver's which looks like it is drowning. They take 20 minutes to make a meal now, not like 15 years ago or so, and the fish is always too greasy. We used dto love that place. They lost a lot of business. We had a Taco Bell in a gas station but they closed, as did a Hardee's years ago. Oh, and we have a Subway a mile away but you can't find any meat on the sandwiches compared to what is shown on the commercials.
