Happy Father's Day to my ol' man. We haven't been close when I was younger, but hoping we can change that moving forward!

My real father has been gone for so many years,  But he an mother divorced a long  time ago and both remarried. My stepfather  was really our father 24 years before mother passed, so we  elected to keep him and she passed in 2978.  So yep  we have had him for a long time. I am  the one who runs for him and take him  for all medical  trips out of town.  Sometimes  even  to get groceries when he ask to go. While my brother  just  seems too busy and sister lives in Alaska. Who comes own about every 6 months causes some  trouble and then  scoots on back home while I have to listen to my dad how  she always  does so much for him while she is here for 2 weeks.  It is hard once in awhile.

55 seems young to die from dementia.  That is a horrible disease.  There was a guy at the nursing home when my pappaw was there and he was upset (and it was the dementia) and as his wife rolled him by me to go eat he said "I didn't let that dog out.  They said I did but I didn't do it" and he was clearly upset.  I played right along.  I told him "I know you didn't.  That nurse down there done it.  I will go tell them you didn't do it and who done it"  And he was happy.  His wife looks at me and mouths "thank you".

My mother died from dementia, and it is a terrible disease to die from.  At the end she was non verbal, unable to walk, didn’t know us, was totally incontinence.  She was in a nursing home on a special wing, and it was sad to see all the people with this disease.

Yeah I remember another guy and toward the end he just sat and stared.  He would play with a truck.  He sat there and would spin the wheels.  I walked by and he had dropped his truck so he just sat there staring in to space.  Like an empty shell.  I picked the truck up and put it in his hand and he immediately started spinning the wheels again.  I went to school with his grandson.  Also have had family who have died with this.

I honestly think a lot of the chemicals that are in our foods is what is causing this.

Happy Father's day to all! Sorry to hear about your father, Nancy. Father's day is one of my favorite Holidays because all I ever wanted to do was to be a good father and now I am reaping the rewards of having two outstanding children. I hope that I live long enough to enjoy my grand children because I know my kids will carry on and do an even better job of parenting than I did (not to toot my own horn). I spent all day with the kids/wife (except two hours in the gym) and loved every single second of it. Sadly my son had to work at a restaurant on Sunday evening (he is raising extra school money) but we ended up going to his restaurant for dinner. The family bought me a three day pass for an upcoming concert and  two totally awesome t-shirts. I spent one day with each child, during the last two weeks, just driving around on their errands and enjoying my 1965 Jeep!

I’m so happy you had a good Fathers Day and got to spend it with your kids.
