I've been married for almost 31 years, this August, 2 beautiful girls and 2 awesome grand kids.  We still have youngest daughter and granddaughter (2 yo) at home with us.  I do not know how I will feel when we get completely empty nest.  Our oldest daughter, her husband and my grandson (3 yo) where living with us until December 31, 2018 and we felt the emptiness really strong, missed my grandson being home everyday and saying HI Nana every time we came home from work.  But marriage has been good, ups and downs a complete roller coaster but we have gotten through them together and maybe even stronger than before.

Like someone else said, I married my best friend.  He’s Italian and I’m German so we have had our share of fights.  We have had good times and bad times, but we stuck it out.  As we got older, we both mellowed and now our fights are few.  We have two daughters.  I wanted more kids, but couldn’t have any more.  I’m so glad I have a person I love and know he loves me back.

I do not understand that.  What difference does it make what your heritage is as to whether or not you fight?  I have heard that a lot.  Just doesn't make sense to me.

Unless like where someone marries a person outside of their religion and they totally disagree on everything they believe in.  But I am not sure why you would do that.  I know people do because I have seen it.  It's like you aren't going to change them.  Any more than they are going to change you.

What I was trying to say (as a joke) he is Italian and people say they have quick tempers and German are suppose to be stubborn.  And we did marry with different religions he was brought up Catholic and I Lutheran, but that has never been an issue for us, or even the smallest fight.

I am kind of both. I have been married for over twenty five years and raised two beautiful children which was my primary goal in life. We have grown apart. I work approximately sixteen to eighteen hours a day and she has an aggressive tennis schedule in addition to working fifty hours a week. She has been on seven vacations this year (six without me) and has another four planned. I have been on one vacation, which I invited her to (and she complained about), with three planned. It seems that we lead separate lives. There is a lack of intimacy (through no lack of effort on my part). She appears to be much happier around everyone and everything than me. Every once in awhile I will see a glimmer of appreciation. I think that she sticks in there solely for keeping the children intact.

Tresbn, I am so sorry to hear that.  Unfortunately that does happen in some marriages.  I wish I had an answer for you, but this a choice you have to make.

I never knew what happiness was until I got married.

...

... and then it was too late.
 ;)

You are SO bad. So bad that you made me laugh out loud.  :icon_rr:

:fish:

That was actually a joke my dad used to tell anyone who would listen.  LOL.
Truth = I have been married for 13 years with two daughters, and have been very happy. One of those daughters is now planning her own wedding (she was 14 when her mom and I got married).

Married for 36 years this past April. I pretty much like being married most of the time. However as I get older I hate to cook. My husband loves my cooking so therefore that creates an issue. I have been getting him to take me out to eat more often. He is not a fan of that but I said you have to split the cooking chore with me. His way out is taking me out to eat. I am ok with that

Are you guys single or married and are you happy with whatever is your relationship status?  I have been widowed for 6 years and until recently couldn't imagine ever getting married again but now if I met the right person I would.  Most of the time I am lonely and tired of being lonely.  I was married for 34 years and I miss the companionship.

I could totally understand.....I'm single but am hoping to be in a relationship/get married someday

I've been married for 20 years.  Some times I like it.
