All time favorite...
« on: July 09, 2019, 09:19:05 am »
So I just had a new experience on another site.  I spend FOREVER doing a survey which in the end only pays 35 cents.

But the real kicker the last question is a pop up that asks for your phone number because the provider of the survey wants to link your answers to your personal phone number. lol

Yeah, uh, No!

If you want that you need to ask for it upfront.  I have noticed a lot of surveys have a banner across the bottom now that says you will be required to provide personal information to get paid.  I know to get DQ to start with.

There is no way I’m going to give my phone number on any survey. It’s unlisted for a reason   I have noticed some are now stating up front we will be asking for personal information which is good.  Better in the beginning then the end.

Your phone number may be unlisted but you would be surprised how many places it can be found online.  I have seen some things lately where I searched myself and was floored at how much private info (or what I think should be private) is available on the internet.  And if you are willing to PAY for the full report supposedly a lot more is available.

But yeah I hit the X on the pop up.  I did still get paid.  But no way will I give my phone number and then that be linked to my survey answers.

I totally agree with you I don’t like giving out my phone number to anyone for any reason that question should’ve been asked first so you didn’t have to complete that whole stupid survey so sorry

Okay first did you know the person? Because this is a scam.  Those exact words you said.  I remember seeing that.  Unless they told you a name and you did in fact know them.  I would do a reverse search on the number the call came from.

I don't think your name just BAM pops up.  They have to search your name.  The funny thing is how much stuff can pop up that is wrong.  They have a neighbor's son listed as my relative on the one site.  And some people take this stuff completely to heart.  IT is online so it is the gospel. smh

I do not answer if I do not know the number.  I was at the church the yesterday and the phone rang and I answered and I said "Hello" the guy says "hewoo" I was agitated but I said "HELLO" and he again said "hewoo" I could hear a lot of talking in the back ground like a call center so I just hung the phone up.  I forgot to go look at the caller ID and see where the call came from.

Well, I think I still got credit.  I am skeptical enough with my phone number on sites like this one. lol  But your phone number is not private.  All the cell companies have sold your info and probably your text messages as well.

I don't like to give out my phone number but, I don't answer it, anyway, unless I recognize the number so I guess it doesn't really matter that much to me.

Except some of these places can drive you nuts calling if they get your number.  I have had the same number for close to 30 years.  I do NOT want t change it.  Then you got people like a guy I know that changes his every could weeks.  He is a hoe and instead of telling his newest sl&t to not call him again he changes the phone number. smh

I do not provide my phone number for any surveys! You have to be kidding me... and I only provide my address if it is for a product test.

You do know they have access to it anyway - right?  If you do not believe me open a support ticket and sometime in the next year you will be told that.

I done a survey once and after the end something did not feel right and I opened a ticket and asked if they (the people behind the survey) knew who we were.  I assumed it was anonymous.

The answer I got was snippy and said "of course they know who you are if you don't feel comfortable taking a survey then feel free to x out of it and try another one"

And we, the user, have no idea who is behind the survey and as we have seen they do not have to pay you the promised coins.
