Lord that brings back memories,  when we were in High school one of the  girls had  one and we always  tried to see just how many of us was  going to be able to   to fit into  it.  Oh we had  fun with it.  Some  tomes the boys would  pick it up and  block it up so  we  would have to all get together and  unblock it. One time them put  halves of watermelon under the  tires.  That was a mess. But it was all in good fun.

I had two friends in high school who owned a VW beetle. Fun car to ride in.

I can't believe they would discontinue that car. It has been around for so long and hasn't changed in design. I guess everything has to come to an end.

I owned a nineteen seventy Volkswagen bug and, to date, it was one one of my favorite most reliable vehicles....right up there with the nineteen sixty five jeep I currently drive. I took time to tint the windows with a mirrored tint, added large american tires (sixties), and air shocks. The only problem with that Volkswagen was the heat did not work at a time when I still had to endure Wisconsin winters (blecch). My jeep has very little heat (basically whatever comes off of the engine) but I live in beautiful Colorado where the temperatures are much milder. I think that Volkswagen stops production every few years in order to control supply and demand. As the market volume diminishes the public will give a shout out. I also agree with the other post-er that said technological improvements will be made. With so many vehicles becoming electric, the Volkswagen would be a natural.

I did see on the news that they are discontinuing the VW Bug.  They are cute cars, but I have never had a desire to own one.  They are a little too small for me.

I never had one; the car is way too small for me to consider it safe. Sad they are discontinuing it though.

My older son purchased a falling-apart 1971 VW bug last summer. It's his fixer-up project.
