summer eats.
« on: August 05, 2019, 10:58:55 am »
Have you noticed how much better certain foods taste during the summer months.  I love garden fresh foods.  They seem to have more flavor than store bought foods.  Last night I made a creamy cucumber salad.  Usually just eat cucumbers plain. but this was just so refreshing, satisfying and enjoyable.  I don't much care for eating cucumbers during the winter.  Probably because store bought cucumbers lack a certain flare.  I also don't like ice-cream in the summer but love it in the winter.  How about you, what foods do you enjoy and at what time of the year?

Fresh tomatoes out of the garden and fresh corn on the cob can't be beat.

And I'll eat ice-cream any old time. It just has to be chocolate.  :in-love:

I love the fresh fruit and vegetables in the summer.  There is nothing better than fresh watermelon, peaches and cherries.  Also I love a good garden fresh tomato and cucumbers.

In the summer I enjoy eating grapes. They are sweet and also a healthier snack to eat.  I also like to bbq with hotdogs and ribs

Garden tomatoes are so much better than store tomatoes.  Corn on the cob is our "go to" veggie right now.

My Summer time ice cream favorites are hard ice cream like praline pecan, cherry nut, moose tracks.  During the winter, I like vanilla with hot fudge.

Love eating fresh vegetables from our garden and look forward to each year.  Can be a lot of work but well worth the taste and cost

I agree tomatoes, squash, and corn are the best in the summer. Nothing better than a fresh grown tomato.

I bet the pesticides are effecting the flavor of store-bought veggies.
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge

I would say watermelon is much better in the summer. There are others but that would be my pick.

Fruits and veggies are always better when they are fresh. Especially if you grow them in your own garden.5

I think just about all fruits and vegetables taste better in the summer straight from a farmer's market.   I am really enjoying peaches and melon at the moment.  I have also found that in the winter I have to eat frozen vegetables rather than canned.  Canned veggies just taste "tinny" and not very fresh to me anymore. I seem to eat more healthy in the summer due to all the fresh food.  We are all so lucky to live in a country where there is an abundance of food.

I tend to eat  more fresh vegetables, and salads in the summer as oppose to heavier  cooked foods.
