What Do You Collect?
« on: August 11, 2019, 12:40:54 pm »
Most people collect something; especially if you consider the possibility that hoarding is a form of collecting.

I'm a minimalist so my natural tendency is to get rid of things.

Lately, I've been collecting stones.  I've been reading about the metaphysical properties because I am hypersensitive and it's fascinating for me to "tune into" the energy of each stone.

I started out with Quart Crystals and now I'm learning about some of the raw, natural stones that one might find out in their yard.

What do you collect and why?
Have a great day!

Lately my daughter and I have been collecting Lost Kitty's sorta playdoh compound with a kitty figurine in it. Growing up I collected stickers and stuck them all over my bedroom door. My parents loved that! XD

Not a collector anymore; I try and get rid of things to avoid clutter; while I may consider something from my house trash someone else may look at it as treasure; in  this season of my life i try and keep it simple.

I use to have a few collections. I have a bell collection. However I don't buy them anymore. Tired of the dusting which comes with them.

I don't have a collection of items in the usual sense of collecting a bunch of like items.
I do like to collect items that bring back memories....
I found a ceramic cookie jar last summer just like the one that sat on top of Mom's refrigerator.  My husband has a ceramic pitcher pig just like the one his Mom served Kool-Aid in.   Last month I got a ceramic figureine that belonged to my Grandmother........these are the types of items I "collect"

Does it count if you use the things you collect?  I'm a cake decorator by trait and I love seeing the effect a new tip can create.  My son has gone as far as getting me sets for special occasions.  I have so many now that I'm falling behind on trying them out.  It's cool though cause sometimes I'll bring a special one to work with me and create something no other stores have in the area.

I used to collect old bread boxes and cookie jars. My husband put up some shelves for me to be able to house them, but then the shelves got full and I realized I wasn't going to be able to continue collecting things that are so large. I've been thinking lately of getting a glass-door curio cabinet and starting to collect small crystal animals like I used to when I was much younger. The problem is, we really don't have the room for the curio cabinet! So in essence I'd have to get rid of the shelves of bread boxes and cookie jars in order to fit a curio cabinet in, and I have to have a closed in curio cabinet for the small crystal animals because I have a very curious cat. I'll just have to ponder this a bit longer before I make any decisions, I guess.  :peace:
