Are Criminals Known for Making Up Names?
« on: August 20, 2019, 04:00:04 pm »
Somebody signed a package for me that I was supposed to receive more than a week ago (as of the date on this post) because I was not available to sign that thing when it was delivered. I still haven’t received the package, and nobody I called recognized the name provided as the signature. Do you suppose that whoever signed that package was a criminal who temporarily made up a name to trick me and the company involved in the delivery to steal the package?

I would not be surprised people steal things off porches all the time after they are delivered.

In general, I think that criminals don't use their real names, because it would be easier to catch them.

I saw a rally funny Meme about porch pirates. It goes, I just replaced my litter box with a FedX box, now when it's full I just tape it shut and put it on my porch for someone to steal.

We had something sort of like happen here at our office.  We had an expensive part ($3,000) that we had been waiting on.  After a time went by and we hadn't received it, I called.  I was told it had been delivered.  They sent a copy of the delivery confirmation.  However, there was no one who worked for us by that name.  As a matter of fact, we have never had anyone by that name work for us.  The company did replace the part.  I don't know if they ever figured out where the part went to since I never heard back from them.
Have a wonderful day!

I would bet some do.  With technology today and all the CSI techniques changing there names is an incredibly simple way to irritate an investigation.  Really with 1/2 the stuff criminals steal they probably have 0 use for or even know what 1/2 the stuff is.  Absolutely pointless thievery if ya ask me.  Karma will get em in the end.

I'm sure there are some that do, but most don't.  Sure makes it easier to find the ones that do!!

I never have to sign for packages anymore so stealing them would be very easy

I would not know because I am not a criminal. Maybe ask one see what they say. Just a thought.

They certainly often use false names.  They are called "aliases."  I think these make it more difficult to get caught and for law enforcement to trace them.  I have noticed from watching a great deal of crime TV that the use of nicknames also makes it very confusing because many don't know the person's actual name.

A friend of mine was arrested once because he had an outstanding warrant he knew nothing about.   It was from not showing up for a court date where he was pulled over for something and instead of taking him to jail they cited him in to court.

Here is the kicker.  It was his cousin who was pulled over and cited in to court.  His cousin gave HIS name.  So when he did not show up for court the police came looking for my friend.  I actually worked with him.  In the end they got it straight and his cousin got in more trouble.

If my cousin done that I think I might end up going to jail. lol

I think that is exactly what happened.  What a easy way to get your package!
