How is it that a user is permitted to create a topic and repeatedly lock and unlock it so that only the OP can write new posts in that topic to the exclusion of everyone else?  (I am thinking specifically about the latest bible verse thread).


Isn't this meant to be a discussion board? How can that happen if nobody else is permitted to post a response or reaction?



I don't expect the rules to change necessarily, but I think admins should make it a rule that after the second time a thread is locked - it should remain locked forever. The manipulation that occurs on some of these boards is bordering on ridiculous!

I agree I think he locks it so no one can reply.

No, you can pick your own.  There is a button on the bottom that says lock.

Because he wants to control the conversation.  He has been deleted many times by FC and just makes a new account.  Nobody needs to even click on the thread.  Sooner or later he will figure out nobody care what he is thumping.  I totally agree with the idea that the 2nd time it is locked but I would go with the first.  Once it is locked it should be a permanent thing.

No.  If you start any thread you can lock it.  But like the OP said I think if you lock a thread it should not be able to be undone.

He is locking the thread himself.  Then unlocks it to post something then immediately locks it back so no one else can reply.

Look at it.  Probably today or yesterday.  This has been going on for quite a few days.  He unlocks it and posts something then locks it back so no one else can reply.  HE the OP is doing it.  Not a moderator.  Just because you find what you think is the answer to a question doesn't mean it is correct.

And to answer your question the last reply was some time today.

Ugetpaid,if u read the very first post in the topic it explains why.You have some mean members that are exactly how i described them.We had a bible topic for over a yr that ran fairly smooth and the cancerous enemies decided to cause havoc.Eventually the person that created the topic locked it and i am glad she did.

To those that enjoy the bible truths i created it so they can still be viewed without worrying about the enemies coming in.Sorry about this.I enjoy the participation too.

Plus to those that dont support why should it make a difference?

Do i need to unlock it to prove my point?If i did and the topic ran smoothe i have no prob doing so and hope it remains calm.But....................

Enemies of Gods word think its not receptive.Thats how blind they are cos they dont support it.To go back and forth to try and convince someone of the truth is a waste of time.I only wanna appeal to those with right heart condition.You can disagree with something and still remain neutral as Jesus did.He didnt agree with his arrest but still scolded Peter for drawing the sword.

I am sort of confused why there would be an ongoing thread that is locked for discussion on a discussion board.... if there is no room for discourse or any opportunity to address what is posted because of "mean members" or "cancerous enemies" or whatever, then one is only posting to their own choir & living in their own echo chamber.  If people want to read Bible quotes, why not just read the Bible directly?  Why go on a PTC discussion board?

But live & let live, I guess.... if people don't want to read the thread they can just click "Ignore Member" -- situation solved.

I do agree that if a topic is locked & unlocked more than once, it should be permanently locked -- sounds like a lot of hassle & wasted energy.  Is this a discussion board, or someone's personal blog.

I'm sorry and I don't mean I start a war, but you must realize we all have different beliefs.  Some of us are Catholic, some are Protestant, some Jewish, some Muslim, some atheist and some Jehovah Witness.  Maybe your thoughts should not be posted here if you think it will cause problems.  I was always taught never argue religion or politics.  I realize you have a very strong belief and that's great!  But you also have to understand not everyone will have the same beliefs as you and don't want to keep hearing about yours.  Again, I hope this doesn't cause a posting war as I don't mean to start one and don't want to insult anyone's beliefs.
