Not only are the prices going up in the grocery stores, but the restaurants are increasing prices a fair amount.  Not long ago I got the fish sandwich combo at McDonald's and it was $7.70-something, including tax.  I thought that was a lot!  Then I visited my daugter about 30 miles from my home and the local McD's charged me @8.20-somethng for the same meal.  I am done paying that kind of money for a coke (sugar water, basically), french fries made from one of the least expensive foods (potatoes), and a bun with a small fish fillet on it. So much for McD's excepting once in a great while or unless I have a decent coupon!

My grocery bill is pretty much consistent from month to month. I usually pay between $80 to $120 per month on groceries.

It is for sure true that prices are going up like crazy. I used to be able to feed a family of 4 on $120 a week when my kids were small and now I have trouble sticking to that limit for just my hubby and myself and we aren't eating all that differently from before except for maybe a slight increase in the number of veggies and salads we eat.

I have  a budget of no more then $48 a week.I try to come up with meals that go a long ways like, mixing brown rice with chicken, broccli, cheese, mushroom soup.I eat that two to three days for dinner(I don't buy a whole lot of junk food,so that helps out)

Yes food is very costly I barely have the money to spend a lot so I have to have a budget every two weeks to spend on food sometimes I have a lot of money to buy more food then there are times where I cannot spend much t all and have to cut down how much to buy.

The sneaky part is instead of raising the price on something, they just make the amount you get smaller. I can't count how many times in the last few years I've taken something out of the package and gone "heyyy, wait a minute." Not just portion amounts but the actual food, stuff like Oreos, Reeses pb cups, Ding Dongs etc are all definitely smaller than 10 years ago.

Groceries have gotten more costly but a lot is not on food items but on paper products cleaners etc

We spent a lot this weekend (on groceries) because the kids came home to visit and we wanted to load them up. They will, be gone until the first week of November when we load them up again. Our refrigerator/Pantry is pretty barren when they are not around. We probably spent six hundred dollars on groceries which included a two month supply of dog food for three dogs, seasonings for the year, weightlifting supplements for my son, some pajamas (dress shirt for me at seventeen dollars) and our Costco membership renewal. The cost should not be that high when they come back in three weeks and my wife and I generally spend less than fifty dollars on groceries when the kids are not around. We had fun carving our pumpkins on Saturday evening and roasted up about two pounds of pumpkin seeds.

Oh yes! Get a little bit of groceries and check out and almost pass out looking at the total!

I definitely think groceries have gone up in the past several years. I try to shop at cheaper stores and use coupons when I can but groceries are still not cheap.

Grocery prices are creeping up especially fresh fruits, vegetables and meats.
Have a wonderful day!

The tariffs have not helped the pricing at all.   A lot of foods we used to get from Mexico, South and Central America have went up with them.  For 2 years now we have not let the migrant workers into the country who do a lot of the manual/lower paying jobs enter the country so many farmers and ranchers have just had to plow under or not plant crops at all because of no help.

I think they waived the tariffs for the southern countries, especially Mexico. Veggies  still come from Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rico, and Canada. I had some giant tomatoes the other week. One slice filled a piece of bread. They made great tuna stuffed tomatoes.  Fish mostly come from Chile or Peru now. At least it's not China. I broke down and bought a 5 lb. box of haddock the other week and it turned out it was from China. Made me furious. Now I know why the box I bought was only $19 when the other box was $34. The expensive box was from Iceland!

Ok admittedly I buy what I want or want to eat.  It seems like I am spending a lot for food lately though considering I don't cook or eat much but frozen food which I guess is expensive.  I also eat sandwiches, cold cereal and the like but whew do you think it is because food costs are going up or because of what I buy?  Do you feel like you are spending more on food or that your cost are pretty consistent?

Hello! :D :)

We are deffinnately paying more for food and everything else. I remember hearing someone talked about have 3 or 4 jobs and thinking how crazy and overwhelming it all seemed. Now as I see the price of everything going up it doesn't seems as crazy anymore. :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:

Yes, I have been noticing more and more how expensive certain food items are that really rack up your totals. I've learned to buy store brands of certain items so try to keep some costs down. Also joining loyalty programs has really helped me.
