Just for some added fun to this thread, I'm wondering why it is such a big imposition for people to actually put their blinkers on before turning. I think the automobile manufacturers might be better served by leaving them off altogether and saving themselves that cost. They are so seldom used after all.

I mean how hard can it be to slightly move your hand to the blinker and turn it on to let people know what you're planning on doing before you do it? :dontknow:

:fish:
I just love it when people wait until they're on top of their turn and then put their turn signal on after slamming the brakes.

In my state we have Right Turn on Red law for some streets.  You don't have to stop at a red light if you're turning right but there's a sign on the light if you can do that.

Tapping the breaks and going through a stop sign is a roling stop and big fine for doing it if caught. Also, pedestrians have the right of way on a street if they are crossing at a designated walkway and in the street itself. Cars MUST stop or they will get a large fign.

They are getting crazy drivers attention around here with photo systems at busy intersections handing out $200 fines by mail.

lol  They tried that were I live.  Or a couple counties over.  No one paid them.  They are not enforceable.  And if you do not pay them there is nothing they can do.

My husband received 2 violations for turning on a red last month each at $100 a piece.  The bad thing was that they were at the same location within four hours of each other (My stepson was also in the car and did not notice the sign). The video you can watch online is within plain sight no excuse.  Talk about being mad.  This caused a big fight in my house of course.  If you do not pay the fine the state will revoke your license plates the next time to try to renew them until the fine is paid.  So there is something that they can do.

I have met so many people this month who have been in horrible accidents or near misses on the road. It can really mess you up if you're in an accident. It breaks my heart to hear about them.  :'(

That being said, the roads can be hazardous right now (wet and/or icy/snowy) and there will be a lot of people on the road from now until after New Year's. If you have to drive, please be careful. Don't use your phone while you drive because it distracts long enough for you to get in a terrible mess. Yes; even those few seconds. If you're traveling 60 mph, you're going over 88 feet per second. 3 seconds x 88 feet per second= 264 feet. That's more than a football field. Visualize this on the road. I just want my FC friends to be safe during the Christmas season.  :santa:

I know you hear all this stuff all the time, but it bears repeating. Sometimes we forget we're driving a two-ton vehicle that can turn into a deadly weapon at high speeds. Please be safe!

A lot of individuals tend to perform rolling stops, which are rampant where I live. As for tailgating, yes, another form of driver aggression that drives me up the wall. Sometimes, I would purposely slow down in order to irritate the tailgater. I would be curious know their side of story in the event that they cause an accident with their stupidity.

My husband was a tracker-trailer driver before getting off the road. He would always come home complaining about drivers who would cut in front of him, not slowing or looking at a yield sign, and if the speed limit was 75 mph, they were going 90 mph. He was positive that those who would cut in front of him were looking for an accident to sue the company. He was glad to get off the road even though he still misses working.

Why this post coming up from September as something in December? I guess I will respond just to have something on your thread. But, I kind of don't really care about speed limits. But, I do kind of at the same time. I care about people speeding around a bus, trying to hit me with a car. That is slowish speeding, but still speeding. I feel it is also a little dangerous or hazardous to me though to enforce speeding on airbrushed parking lots nearest me. Is airbrushed the right word? Airbrushed parking lots may not have to be paid back. But, I kind of think people may act dumb and try to do some wrongful flipping to me. Anyway, I guess that is all I will say, this just got me started and instead of just leaving this at something dumb, I added a little something related.

Turning in a slightly different direction, I think driver's ed instructors need to devote at least 5 hours of instruction (and licensed drivers should be required to complete continuing education credits every five years to remain licensed) on the proper protocol for 4 way stop intersections and how those same rules apply to traffic lights when the power had been interrupted and the lights are out or are flashing red waiting to be reset.

Try a different teacher next time. ;) It's pretty important to learn how to drive. Remember that it's never too late!

I had an aunt who I think was in her 60's before she got her first drivers license.

I sometimes wonder if people have actually taken driver's ed classes in school. I guess they're not mandatory, but they sure would be helpful.

I know what you mean about the way people drive. I used to love driving but now I am developing a fear of it for all the near misses and actual accidents (that were no fault of mine).

I think it's mostly that people are not courteous and they're not thinking about the other drivers on the road. However, I see no way to remedy that.  :confused1:

I just found out yesterday that my pregnant granddaughter was involved in a car accident on her way to work because someone merged into her car.

It messed up her car badly and she has a cracked sternum. She has been checked and the doctors say she and the baby are okay, but what if . . . . ?
