I don't know. I never really analyzed the show to that depth. They just seemed to be a wholesome (and perhaps unrealistically idealized depiction) family from the 1960s.

I am not analyzing anything.  It is just annoying.  It is like today when in the real world people who can't tell a story because they are laughing too hard.  Say a word then laugh laugh laugh.  It's like when you get it together tell your story. Until then shut up.  I have just noticed lately when the show is on he is always doing that.

Like when he tells the boys he puts the barrel hoops out.  He can't tell the story because he laughs for 10 minutes before he gets it told.

Liked Eddie Haskell think his name was the smart mouthed kid.  Watched as a kid agev9 or 10 like many people did.  Good show mostly would watch instead of some shows 9n today.

People frequently badmouth old situation comedies and westerns as inane and stupid. Beaver was just a little boy with lots of life lessons to be learned. The interactions with his brother and friends were funny and sweet. The mom and dad really cared about their children and that was obvious. His older brother, Wally, and his offbeat friends were intriguing and showed what a good-natured boy he was.

I miss that show and shows like Father Knows Best, The Rifleman, MacGyver, Family Ties and the Andy Griffith Show.
There are others I could mention as well.

The relationships were idealized but they gave you something to attain to, and gave you good ideas for ways of how to deal with problems. It seems as though today's shows focus on base humor and sarcasm way too much. We really don't need more ideas for ways of being unkind to one another, do you think? Everyday life has plenty of opportunities for an interesting storyline for a television show without resorting to that.

:fish:
I agree he was a little boy with lots of lessons to learn.  We were entertained by the way he learned them and interacted with family and friends.

That's a nice show, it's not one I go out of my way to watch but it would do society well to have something half that wholesome on tv again. All children on tv now are the same sarcastic precocious character. A child who talks like an adult hasn't been unique or funny for years and I hope someone realizes it soon. Beaver was kind of dumb but it would be nice if we were allowed to see kids with real, wholesome dumb kid problems on tv.

I watched that show when I was young, I miss those old shows. They were much more family oriented than what is on today. Beverly Hillbillies will always be one of my favorites.

I never really got into Leave It To Beaver as a kid. But I do miss the general 'wholesomeness' of yesteryear's shows. They didn't need vulgarity to get a laugh.

Google JediJohnnie and May the Force be with you!

It is okay.  It is background noise in the morning. I use to like it better than I do now.  It would be better if they didn't make the "beaver" out to be so stupid.
