She was definitely guilty.  Nice Christian gesture on the brother's part.
Have a wonderful day!

Forgiveness is one thing and every one should forgive (if possible) and in time but to be sentence for only 10 years is not fair.  Our Justice system  have a lot to be desire.  I read the person who shot a police dog and the dog lost an eye got 45 years.  What is wrong with that picture.  Justice for all.

I feel very sorry for this police officer even though I think she was guilty and should have gotten more than 10 years with eligibility of parole after 5. Putting her in jail, though, does nobody any good. I think she should have gotten a different punishment, like community service for 20 years.

I just don't get this one - on one hand I understand coming home and being out of it but the circumstances are just so unbelievable - I think she has to pay for what she did - take responsibility.

I'm not familiar with this trial.  What part of the country is it in?

Harming Police dogs  is the same as harming a police officer since they are on the job.  As for the police officer in this case, I feel very bad for her in a way. She seems genuinely remorseful. What I don't get is how did she get into his apartment. Do they have the same key for all the apartments or what? I find it unbelievable that she didn't realize that the furniture and setup of the rooms were different than hers.  It was a wonderful gesture of the brother to forgive her.  I think that will go a long way in helping her overcome her guilt.

I live in Texas and this case has been on our local news since it happened.  I'm glad that they found her guilty but I do not agree with the sentence that they gave her.  She deserved longer then 10 years and it's crazy she could get paroled after 5 years!  >:( >:( >:( >:(

I hadn't heard about this much until today when listening on Christian radio in my car. I heard that the guy's brother forgave her because his brother was a Christian and he would have wanted her forgiven.  :angel11:

I also heard that the judge on the bench gave her a bible that he kept with him and said it was because he too was a Christian. You don't hear this stuff on mainstream media.  :angry7:

In my opinion from my secondhand view, that officer made a mistake that she will pay for forever. I'm not sure what sentence I would have supported had I been on the jury. What a terrible shame for all involved.

I feel she should have gotten more than 10 years! At least 15 or life because it was said that she made a racist comment that week and they say the apartments looked alike and she was working 15 hours shifts. She was on the wrong floor ok but she shouldn't have shot that man. She didn't even give him CPR. Now back to the trial, the brother is a christian and forgave that woman for himself. I thought it was ok but I still feel she should have gotten more than just 10 years and best believe she will feel it when she locked in that jail cell.

It has been all over mainstream media that the brother forgave her and that the female judge gave a bible with certain verses marked for her.

I agree that it may have been on mainstream media that the brother forgave her, but they neglected to mention that forgiving her was an act of kindness due to the fact that his brother was a Christian.

The judge was a woman and I goofed on saying "he". But again, even though the media mentioned the Bible being given to the young woman by the judge, it did not mention that the judge said she was a Christian also.

Am I mistaken about that? That was my point; that any reference to Christianity was omitted.

A judge is supposed to represent God unless their laws compromise Gods.

I base my answer using the bible.

When the apostles were jailed, flogged and threatened with death the apostle Peter said they would obey God as ruler and NOT stop preaching the good news RE Jesus and Gods kingdom.
