Parents and Halloween Candy
« on: October 05, 2019, 02:53:28 pm »
Do you know that 44% of parents admit they will eat more candy than their kids on Halloween?  But then, we all need to give in to our urges some of the time.  How about you?  I finally had to make sure I bought the Halloween candy just a day or so before trick-or-treat when my kids were of that age so I wouln't eat a whole bag of one of my favorites!

when my kids were younger we would take them out for halloween and I would get a whole bunch of candy that they would not want. Then I would go through it and give the candy I did not like to the guys at work . it all worked out.

The other 56% of parents still eat more candy than their children on Halloween, they just don't admit it :P

My kids' used to "donate" most of their candy to people who were more unfortunate than them & didn't get any candy --they were cool with it, I would then take most of my kids' candy to work & my "unfortunate" coworkers would eat it....  Kids don't need to eat all that candy.  Win-Win for all involved.

I heard about a mother today that was concerned about her son eating too much candy, so she took him to a man they both had high regard for and she asked him to tell her son why he should not eat so much candy. The man put his hand on his chin and looked to be in deep thought, then told them both to go home and come back in two weeks.

They did as he asked and when they came back he said, "Son, eating too much candy can cause you great harm for the rest of your life and result in poor health as well as severely damaged teeth, so I would highly advise you to stop"

The mother asked, "Why didn't you just tell us that two weeks ago?"

The man replied, "Two weeks ago I was eating too much candy and I didn't want to damage my integrity".

I still have that child-like urge to eat Halloween candy. In fact, I was at Walmart a few days ago, and I started freaking out (in a good way) when I noticed the numerous bags of candied corn (my favorite Halloween candy).

I get my own Halloween candy so I don't have to be accused of stealing any from kids.

my kids are grown..i usually go trick or treating with my daughter and granddaughters...and i never ate any of their candy unless it was offered....they would offer me some and depending on what it was i may take it...but i have an allergy to milk so that cuts out a lot..so they would make sure to give me a sucker or something...they also look at ingredients before giving it..but they are 18 and 15 now...so they dont go..they usually hang out with friends or we ride around and look at the little ones and the people dressed up/..

I try to buy candy that I don't like.  That can be quite a challenge.

When our kids were young we took them out together so didn't hand out candy but they would always share some of their's from trick or treating with us. Last year I kept buying candy and we kept eating it people who came over before Halloween my son who lives here and me lol.  Hardly anyone came to trick or treat which is a good thing I didn't really have anything left.

We don't give out candy at all anymore because for the past three years we have had no one at all show up at our door. This is because we live on a dead-end street with only a few houses on it, so it is not "efficient" for kids to come down our street to do their trick or treating.
