Well, there I go again.
« on: January 11, 2020, 02:18:16 pm »
I have been blithely putting the new date on my checks by putting a "20" after the "19" making it 1920. Duh.  :silly:

I'm not sure it's a big problem. I haven't heard anyone complain yet, but I didn't even think twice about it.

Lol. I haven't written the date right on the first try once yet this year. Usually takes me until at least March!

I haven’t written a check in a long time.  Pay things online.

Since I pay by bills online, I don't write very many checks. In fact, I might write a check twice a year. But when I do write a check, I have to review how to do it in my head, because it's usually been so long since I've written one. But writing 1920 on my checks sounds EXACTLY like something I would do, too!  :peace:

I keep writing 19 then I have to scratch it out and put 20 by the time I figure this out it’ll be 21

i have put the wrong date on a couple of times but caught it.
I have also heard several times that if you are writing checks or signing contracts etc.  be sure to write out 2020 for the year instead of 1/12/20 because someone could write 18 or 19 etc. beside the 20 and change the date of the contract or check etc. :rainbow: :peace:

Haven't written out a check yet but had to sign and date some paperwork and luckily remembered to put 2020.  Here about this on the news that people can add numbers to the 20 if you don't write the whole year out.

Just remember not abbreviate "2020" on checks to just "20." Someone can fill in the year by adding "18" or "19" so it looks like the check was made in "2018" or "2019."

Every time a new year starts I always write the past date beginning in January thinking it is still last year.

Same here, I don't write very many checks anyway, usually pay bills on line, but I do about 4 or 5 checks a year.
