Anyone else have one of these and how are you liking it? I do like that the app alerts you to other reports of stuff going on in your neighborhood.

A lot of my neighbors have 'ring'.   I'm curious about it.  Is there a monthly fee?

Was just telling my husband that we need to look into this.  He asked why since our neighborhood is safe and I agree but you never know when things can change.  I am still going to research it.

Alerts you to other stuff going on in neighborhood?  How?  Through other people's ring?  I would not want this.  Too many incidents of people being spied on.

Yeah, others who also have the doorbell/app near you can put out an alert if they had someone steal a package, break in their car, etc. It shows you on a map how close it happened and shares their video so you can see the person.

Some people put them inside and I definitely would never do that for spying reasons. Ours is just at the doorbell.

I have a ring & pay $3 a month for cloud access to store all my recordings, otherwise I couldn't retrieve history.
There are many things that could be improved on the RING doorbell app... one being by the time you bring up the app because someone is at the door, they've already left because it takes so long to bring up the app & that is with a fast internet speed.  Another issue is deleting all the historical videos recorded is time consuming & it records trees moving & cars going past because in order to record the areas you want recorded, it has to include zones you don't want -- it wastes time doing maintenance to clean out recordings.

It is good for a theft deterrent perhaps, & to look to see who has been at your home leaving packages, like UPS -- but UPS gives texts when it's delivered so I guess you can just see what the person looks like if you're curious on the RING.   I don't mind it, but really don't use it at all -- don't even clear out the old recordings.

We don't have, but I think some of the neighbors in the area do; I have not heard anything negative so far about how it so far, but wonder how much it cost and how effective is it? something to research if we ever decide to go that route.

Oh so the person has to do it.

I always thought it just recorded like right in front and on your porch.  It is unreal how often you are recorded.

So many people have cameras and people are so suspicious of every one.  You can't even go to someone's door when or if you need help.  Remember a few years ago when the girl wrecked her car (and no she did not have a cell phone) and she went up and knocked on a door to ask the person to call 911 or to help her, and he SHOT and KILLED her.  He shot her through the door standing on the front porch.

I do not have one. When people knock at my door, I do not even answer!
It is just too risky.
