No, I have no plans on wearing a mask unless I should become infected.  My choices of prevention is regular hand washing, keeping my hands away from my face and staying out of crowded places.
Have a wonderful day!

They are hard to find - I ordered some but they haven't been delivered.  I understand that Amazon has stopped sales of them & other similar items due to price gouging.  Terrible situation all the way around.

Those in Congress who hate Amazon are blaming Bezos for the price gouging, insinuating that he's the one doing it. That's a lot of Bull, Sen. Kaine. He doesn't know much about Amazon and, by the way, watched him in the hearing on Coronavirus and he's one of them who are politicizing it to the hilt. Instead of taking his 5 minutes to only ask questions, he makes a speech and asks a couple short questions but he didn't like the answers because they didn't answer the way he wanted.  Patty Murray, toom, had a press conference that seemed to blame Trump for this happening.

That is not true. Individual sellers set their own prices. And if it is reported they are doing it their accounts are frozen.

It is also foolish to blame Trump.  This started in China.  He has tried repeatedly to close borders and when he said no to people with the virus being flown here he was ignored and they done it any way.  It is already out of control in the US.  Every time you turn the news on the numbers have gone up.  People are out every where and do not even know they are infected so they pass it to others.  This is highly contagious.  Don't know where it will end or if it will end.

I do know you cannot find a mask in my home town.  Have not been able to for quite some time.  I was at the grocery store a few days ago and there were items that the shelf was completely empty.

We already had them at our house before all this started.  I only use them when I cut grass and wouldn't wear them then but I will sneeze and cough for a few days if I didn't.

I think it is all a hoax, it is just another kind of flu, all they are telling you to do is wash your hands, what most of us do anyway.

It is not just another kind of flu.  Washing your hands is stupid.  It is not absorbed through your hands.  I have worked in the past where people were sick and I washed my hands all the time.  It did not absorb through my hands.  But I did get sick from idiots coughing and sneezing all over the place.  The death rate is almost 4% with this.  And if it were "just the flu" health care workers would not go in to rooms (where you are isolated) wearing hazmat suits.  They do not do that for the flu.

Maybe you are not following what is going on.  This is airborne. Washing your hands will not keep you from getting this.  If you go to a public place like a shopping center and someone has it and just breathes in your general direction you can get it. I honestly do not care what anybody else does. I just get tired of hearing people screaming just wash your hands and you will be fine.  I actually witnessed a pretty intense moment last night with this exact conversation. The one person took the high road and walked away. I do not know what I think about wearing a mask. I do know in my area you can not find them. If things did get really bad yes it would be nice to have some.

The thing is you do not know as it comes closer. You just wake up one day and it is all around you.  It is like Washington they had zero cases then all of a sudden there are a ton of them and who knows how many exposed.  The guy who brought it to the nursing home was from several states away.  I am sure he stopped and ate and got gas and other things along his way home.  Then out and about in his home town.  He literally has exposed thousands of people.  And he likely did not even know he had it.  Yes, it is scary.  It is even more scary when you know there are people from a couple of countries who are hard hit who are trying to get to your home town!

I tried to pick up some surgical masks over a month ago & they were completely sold out online & in store -- Stores such as Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, etc....  & they were still out 2 weeks ago.

You would need a N95 masks for it to be effective against virus -- they sell them at Home Depot, or did.

You can buy fake ones on Amazon, that aren't effective & sold from China, good luck with that.
I don't even know how they would cross over to get here since the ports are pretty much closed to supplies.

There are patterns on how to make your own.  I do not believe the surgical masks are totally ineffective.  Of course they are at least a little effective.  It keeps you from breathing in spit droplets that people cough and sneeze in to the air.  If they are not effective then why are they being handed out to people in certain jobs? I would not be surprised if I saw Walmart workers with them on.  Half the cashiers in my area wear gloves. Have all winter.

You cannot find them or get them where I live.  I have seen people wearing masks. But you have no idea why they are doing so. The one lady who had one on talked to me and she had just finished treatments for cancer. Which is NOW in remission. But she is needing to protect herself.  And the masks DO protect you.  If they did not then tell me why the nurses all have them on!  Wearing a mask will keep you from breathing in where people cough and sneeze and are too stupid to cover their mouth.

Yes, anyone who has just gone through cancer treatments and in remission need to wear a mask when out and about because their immune system is very low.  As for other people, they don't really help unless they have been exposed and have the virus as it keeps other people from getting it from that person. They don't help anyone who doesn't have the virus.  Nurses in hospitals wear them during surgery to keep the patient from picking up an infection when they're under the knife. Quite easy with open surgical sites to have that happen..

I had that experience with my first sarcoma surgery. I was placed in a private room and no one could come in unless they were wearing masks and gloves while my knee was bare to the bone for the first week.  All I had was wet antibiotic dressings loosely on my knee and pumped full of antibiotics for the first couple days.
