I think it is overblown. The media is causing hysteria, and people in general are easily brainwashed. The flu kills tens of thousands of people every year in the US alone, and no one is hoarding face masks over that.

This is more deadly than the flu. If you think it is not a big deal I am sure they would use you as a volunteer to treat people who have it.  And yes, people do wear masks to avoid the flu.  This virus is more contagious and more deadly. If you and others think it is not big deal then why do you care what others are doing to prepare for an outbreak in their area?  I don't care what others do to prepare for this in my general location.

It is something to be aware of and take precautions.  However I do think the media is making people nervous.  This isn't the first virus we've ever had floating around nor will it be the last.

It's funny because if the media did not warn people about it then when it was in their area and you are shut up in your house and then found out the whole world knew you would be crying why did they not tell us.  There are ways to get info other than the "media".  I personally like knowing how close this is moving to me.

It is scary but many who get will survive. It's like a flu and many die from that every year. Stock market crashing is no5 a good sign.some people who got it never traveled and were not around anyone who had it.

If they did not travel and were not around anyone who has it then they could not have it.  You have no idea who you come in to contact with each day or what they have. People can have it 2-4 weeks before they show any symptoms.

If it hits your family it is not overblown.  But I do feel like people are going a little crazy over the purchase of toilet paper, etc.  I always have enough at our home for about a month except for perishables.  Just because I hate to go to the grocery store.  Since the stores have become so  crazy the last few days  I will just order on line.  I did my monthly shopping last Friday and there were no mobs and the shelves were full, but watching the news that has changed in a week.

I think it changed over the weekend.  Toilet paper is something you want to have on hand. Do you want to wipe your butt with your bare hand? A wash cloth and then go wash poop out of it? You just said you have enough to last about a month in your home. So why fault others for doing the same thing.

You are blowing what I said out of proportion, just like the media. I never said the coronavirus is not a big deal. Of course it is if it's killing people. What I'm saying is the media is freaking everyone out. Should you be cautious and take extra precautions? Yes! Should you run out to the store and buy everything off the shelves? Should you buy face masks in bulk at exorbitant prices? That's overblown, and it prevents others from buying things that they need.

You are doing the same thing you accuse me of. I never said go buy 500 masks. I do not have any issues with people stocking up. I am not worried about if you get it. Sounds harsh but it is what it is. I will get what I need for me. That is all others are doing. I have not seen anyone buying 12 packages of toilet paper. One or two yes. They have that right.  I have not seen masks on the shelves in my area in weeks.  No I will not pay $700 for a box (which I did see on Amazon).  I can stay at home.  Right now I have bigger concerns. But if I think I need something and it may become unavailable or I may be locked on my property for an extended amount of time you get bet your bottom dollar I will pick up a few extra so I have what "I" need!

That is so stupid.  It does not absorb through your hands.  It is AIRBORNE!  When people cough and sneeze they blow their germs out in the air that you are breathing. If just washing your hands solved the issue then just wear gloves.

It is not over blown but companies need to quit taking advantage of this virus to gouge their prices because they know people are ready and willing to spend whatever it takes to keep the coronavirus away.  I live in Las Vegas Nevada and we have just 4 cases but that is 4 too many cases.  I worry about every time i leave the house or my husband leaves that we will get it.

First you say people are clearing the shelves at your local Walmart. And then you say you haven't seen anyone stocking up outside of the ordinary. So which is it?

I have not seen any companies raising prices. I have seen where people buy all of something and then they sell it on ebay or something. But that is not the company.

Use your head here.  Yes the other day there were pictures of the shelves empty. So a lot of stuff was sold. It does not mean one person bought it all.  People are so stupid.  I heard a conversation the other day with some wench making fun of people buying toilet paper.  Yes the shelves were empty of certain brands. But each person was only purchasing maybe one or two packages.  That is not a huge stock up.  Nor is it hoarding. It is a lot of people buying ONE or TWO packages of something.

I didn't say one individual person was hoarding everything. I said lots of people are clearing the shelves of stuff they don't necessarily need due to the coronavirus hype. My husband has a cold and wanted to buy some decongestant, and the entire cold and flu aisle was bare. If you think that's normal, then whatever.  ::)
