Restaurant and Bars Closed In Illinois
« on: March 15, 2020, 05:18:51 pm »
The Governor just declared today that all restaurants and bars be closed as of Monday and will not re-open until March 30th.  Carry out will be available.  My nephew is suppose to get married on March 28th and wonder how this will be effected since the reception is at a downtown Chicago hotel (really not a restaurant).  I know that rehearsal dinner, welcome drink reception and the after party will all probably be cancelled because they at a restaurant and bar. Some of the brides guests have already have cancelled this week because they have to travel.  I feel so sorry for them after a year and half of planning and it all may be cancelled or postponed to who knows when.

Not sure what part of Illinois is doing that? Everything in the news has stated that the restaurants and bars are closed to dine in business but will allow take out or delivery. My cousin, who lives in Chicago, indicated that the restaurants and bars were closed to customer traffic but still allowed to deliver food and allowed to disburse food for take out. Posts like these contribute to the panic that so many people are feeling. Colorado (where I live and can confirm) is following suit. If a restaurant chooses to stay open, they are allowed to deliver or prepare food for take out. We will be ordering take out to support our local businesses. Movie theaters (in Colorado) will only allow fifty people in their theaters at a time. Costco has  been one of the most responsible retailers in placing limits on how many packages of toilet paper/facial tissue may be purchased per week and are monitoring it in their systems. A lady at the next cashier was turned away from buying facial tissue because she had purchased forty boxes five days earlier.

I live in California and we are in the same boat. Lots of things are closed and we have been ordered to stay in our homes.

I'm just waiting for almost all businesses to be shut down. I feel it is going to happen in my state.

I haven't checked the casual restaurants here but the fast food is drive thru only.  They have closed the schools.  Last I had heard it will be April when they resume if they do.  But they are offering the kids lunch service.  In a drive thru type environment.

in Mass. bars and restaurants are open but they can only do take out and delivery orders. No inside dining. I think it is effect until April 5th. I'm glad the state didn't shut them down completely giving them a chance  to stay open. However, i sure many will still close for a while. :rainbow: :peace:

I'm using this thread to make a confession. I have not taken the virus seriously enough. :-[ As I've researched about the mutation of the virus from animals to animals, then animals to people and then people to people, I realize that each person who carries it to someone else, even unknowingly, helps it advance its mutation process making it harder to pinpoint and eradicate with vaccines. Plus I've heard that it affects your lungs much more adversely than the flu and that it is ten times more lethal than the flu.  :o

So I apologize for minimizing the threat. That was my opinion at the time. I still think the hysteria is unfounded, and I still suspect that China was intentionally responsible for spreading the virus to weaken the United States economy, but I now have much more respect for the precautions that are being taken. Plus I trust my president to do the right thing for our country, even in the midst of the pandemic.

I truly hate having to stay at home as per my governor whom I do not respect in general, but he is the authority that I have to obey since I live in Illinois. This is not a fun time for anyone in the whole wide world, doggonit.  :'(

I was suppose to take a trip to Chicago this weekend but first my dad had some major health problems and then the corona thing followed. Looks like I am going to have to go another time.

I hate that this virus is affecting so many people negatively.  I pray that things work out eventually for everyone.
