This is a great time to reset and help yourself. About four years ago, I had to have emergency surgery and there were complications, some which I still have today. Although I have healed greatly, it was a blessing in a different way. I am female and I weighed 224lbs. I actually went down to 115lbs. I am 5'7" and was very sick and thin, from fungal infection from too much strong antibiotic after ruptured appendix. I am much better and now weigh 130 lbs. I try to keep this weight and it feels great. Even though because I was sick when I started, I realized that I needed to follow strict diet to get rid of fungus, no sugar, no flour, no bread, no pasta, and much more. Mostly either raw or cooked vegetables, juicing, good protein too. Many of the items that I initially had out of diet I now eat in small amounts and watch. It feels great not to be heavy and it is almost 5 years since I weighed that and never want to go back. Wish all trying to slim down, give yourself room and know that try each day to be consistent and you will see results. Adding exercise really helps too. I wish everyone the best in their endeavors.

Tough way to lose the weight.  But great job for keeping it off.

I lost 10 pounds since this started because I have been forgetting to eat. I have aslo been working out two times a day.

More people are exercising while at home.  They are saying that they are losing weight.  I don't think obesity will be the problem.

I appreciate all of your replies to the original post but my point was that obesity contributes to the complications of the coronavirus as it does with a number of conditions. Frankly, from what I am hearing from my friends, they are having to make a concerted effort to watch their eating because it would be so easy to gain weight while confined and stressed.  I am surprised that many of you say you are actually losing weight.  Congrats!

You are correct! I've been snacking like nobody's business.  I've been hitting my treadmill and drinking water but now I have to reset my diet and appetite.

Well, another underlying condition that can affect getting the coronavirus and it being severe is obesity. If you are stuck at home right now and have a tendency to be overweight, please try to watch what you eat and how much and often you eat.  I know food is a comfort to many, but obesity in the U.S. has become a huge issue.  I, too, am trying to not eat out of boredom.  I have been getting up and exercising some of the time, either on my treadmill, up and down the stairs a certain number of times, or today, which is sunny and near 60, outside for a few minutes.  That sun feels so good!  Better than a donut!!! LOL!

I really like your simplified formula, it's an obvious but awakening statement.

    Obesity:
What works: Avoid all junk food!
What works against: Eating junk food.

I lost weight at first too then I redeveloped my sweet tooth. It can definitely be fought against though, I plan to come out of this quarantine a few lbs lighter.

I've lost weight too...I eat what I normally eat and walk outside most days. It obviously helps that we can't dine out right now.

Decreased (notice I didn't say stop) the snacking and junk food, increase water, move 20 minutes at day at minimum.  Hope this helps!

Being fat causes all kind of health problems and makes what could be a minor health issue a lot worse.

Thankfully, I have never had that problem and try hard to never have; it is a good time for anyone who may be stuck at home to perhaps walk a few times a week if they are able; that might help with some weight loss.
