For those who have children, did you have a baby shower? And do you think they are necessary?

I had a huge Baby Shower with my first Child, but I did not have one with the other two. I had everything that I needed from my first Baby Shower. My kids got hand me downs from each other only.

Yes, I had a large baby shower when my first son was born. It was huge! Everybody from old friends to church friends to work friends to most of the ladies in my family were there. Let's just say that my first son was totally fitted out by that baby shower. I also had one at my mother-in-law's church about a week later. Some really nice ladies that I didn't really didn't know gifted us with some lovely things. When my second son was born two-and-a-half years later, the ladies at my church had a modified shower for me, since I still had almost all of my first son's grown-out-of clothing and baby furniture, etc. So I mostly got diapers and onesies at that shower, which was what my second son really needed!  :peace:

Yes, I had baby showers with both of my daughters.  My oldest I did not know if it was a boy of a girls but I had a pretty descend size and gt lots of stuff for her, including neutral clothing.  For my youngest that was 5 years later we already knew it was a girl and had a medium size baby shower and got plenty of stuff for her.

I had a large shower for my first girl.  My family and only my 2 best friends gave me a shower for my second.

Mine was the same.  Did not have a shower for each child born.  Thought it was not necessary but now it seems that they have one for every child.  I refuse to go to more than one per family.  I know when my daughter is ready there will only shower given by this mom.

I only had one daughter, but I had a big baby shower because I worked at a Senior Center and they all wanted to do something for the baby.

I think they're sort of fun and the mama gets lots of stuff she probably needs. The ones that includes the dads are fun too.  :icon_rr: Not what they did back in my day, though.

I had baby showers with all of them, just to celebrate the babies not to get more things.  They all wore hand me downs too!

I had multiple baby showers when I had my daughter 34+ years ago.  Both sides of the family had one, co-workers had one and our group of close friends had one.  My grandson came 8 weeks early so my daughter only had one shower before Edison arrived.  I had a shower for her on a Saturday and he decided to be born the following Wednesday.  My daughter had gotten the flu and the coughing and stress on the baby put her into labor.  He arrived small but was perfectly healthy!  Needless to say, I had to buy premie clothes since he arrived a lot smaller than he was predicted to be.
Have a wonderful day!

My "work friends" gave me one, which was sweet, or I would not have had one. But I really think they are not necessary, but they are helpful to the new parents just starting on the journey. That being said, there is nothing more boring than a baby (or bridal) shower unless you are the one delivering.

i don't have children. However, i have never gone to a shower for someone having the 2nd or 3rd child. In fact most of the baby showers i have gone to have been for people who are adopting children. :peace: :rainbow:
