I, as a man, turn down baby showers and will only go if my wife needs a convenient excuse to duck out early. It seems that, in the last few years, Mothers to be have started including men on the invitations and creating activities for the men to do while the women are opening the shower gifts. I am way too busy for these gatherings unless it is for immediate family-limited to daughter, son, and or niece and I would hope that (being in their twenties) a baby shower will not be scheduled for another eight to ten years. The girl in the office next to me was some what put out that she was being invited to a second baby shower for the same couple's second baby. Office mate explained that proper protocol is one baby shower which covers the neccessities for all babies within one famiy.
