That phrase doesn't work for me either most of the time, but I did win $500 from the NC Lottery because I enter tickets for the second chance drawing.

So you won it only because you were in it, right?

I actually won 13 bucks at a casino a couple years ago. I don't gamble really ever but I just thought I would drop a few quarters in the slot and see what happens. I was at this casino too see a band play.

I have won a few things in my life.  Never the lotto.  But I usually don't play.  The truth is that if you play you already increased your odds of winning.    You definitely won't win if you don't play.

I have realized I'm not one of those lucky people.  I have pretty much quit buying things like lottery tickets and never enter free contest because I don't feel like they are legit.

I have rarely won anything. I like the phrase that you have to be in it to win it, but I have entered contests, etc, but have not won much.

I won a $10 Amazon gift card once. I was exceedingly joyful, not because of the $10, but because I actually won something for once in my life.  Yes, you have to enter to have a chance at winning.
