Daily walk
« on: May 21, 2020, 04:37:34 am »
I drive by a cemetery to take my dog for his run in the country.  Passing the cemetery I notice a couple, ladies,  walking  relatively fast paced.  I didn't notice a car.  So I assumed they weren't visiting.  I thought, now that's an idea.  Way to avoid crowds and still get that morning walk in.  I would have never thought to do that.    But I don't go to cemeteries as a rule.

I was just in a cemetery, last week, for my father's funeral. I think it would be the perfect place to go for a walk (or run) as long as it was late at night or early in the morning so that one's physical activity would not obstruct any funeral proceedings. It is so nice and peaceful. I think it would be interesting to cool down in a cemetery, after a run, and read some grave stones. Great way to pay your respect to those that have passed before us. I was amazed, and saddened, at the number of younger people who have died. My trip o the cemetery helped me appreciate the longer life I have been given and all of the experiences I have had during the extra years. The funeral was in Arizona and I only plan on visitinf Arizona three to four more times in my life but will definitely visit my father's grave on each of those visits.

While the creepy factor is understood, I've never walk through one...yet.  8)

To be honest I have never found a cemetery creepy, of course I've never strolled through a really decrepit one or anything, but most have been very peaceful and pleasant if they're nicely landscaped. I would do cemetery walks if there was one a little closer!

I love cemeteries. They're so peaceful and full of history. Of course, I research my family tree (and my husband's), so I've spent a lot of time searching for graves. Several years ago, I had a couple hours free between work and my night classes, so I went to a few cemeteries and photographed every single stone for the Find a Grave website. I've been meaning to do that again now that the weather is nice (and before the world goes back to normal). My old office building was across the street from a cemetery. On my lunch breaks, I considered going for walks through it, but I never did. I wasn't sure if anyone would think that it's disrespectful, since I wasn't visiting any graves. I guess maybe I could have.

Cemeteries don't bother me. There was a cemetery on my college campus near one of the art buildings that people would walk through. And, they show movies to large crowds in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge
This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)

I walk my dog jack, a couple of times a day in my neighborhood.  No real cemeteries nearby, but there are a couple of churches and a school yard walking path.  Even though other people are out and about, it's no problem for us to social distance.   :turkey:

Walking respectfully through a cemetery is a really good idea. I had never thought of that! It would be good exercise and a way for those who have come and gone before us to not be forgotten. The one my mother is buried in is very close to our home and very pleasant. I haven't been there in a long time as my mother passed away over 20 years ago. Might be time to take a little trip over to the cemetery to visit my mom's grave and to get a little exercise in. Thank you for the wonderful idea!  :peace:

I walk around my block every morning, every day.
I try to walk as much as I can because it is the easiest
    exercise available.
