washing masks

Do you think most people are really washing their mask after every use ?  For that matter do you think they are only using disposable masks only once?  I'm guessing no and no....I've seen some worn out ones. (I guess that could be from washing).  I wash mine even though I'm not convinced that it helps.

Honestly I keep one in my car to wear into stores and stuff, and I have not washed it. I don't really think it does anything, but I wear it with respect to the people who are still scared and want to feel like others are doing something. I've seen more of the disposable ones littered on the ground than on people's faces.

I have ten masks, give or take a few. and wash seven of them every Sunday morning when I wash my clothes. I just ordered a mask that comes with ten cotton inserts which I will wash with the same frequency. I think that many people hate wearing the masks and do not wear them, much less wash them. The mask seems to have become more of a political thing these days. One party does not want to acknowledge the virus and chooses to not wear masks. The other party wears their masks everywhere. I think that most masks, that I have seen, would not do a good job of keeping air born viruses out and agree with several friends in the medical field that the mask keeps people from touching their mouths and nose which most likely reduces the amount of surface germs.

I wash my reusable masks in the washing machine on hot and hope that it does the job. i wish I had some of those paper masks, enough of them to use a new one every time. As it is, we have to make sure to do hot laundry before we go anywhere. But I'm thankful to at least have masks!

At work, we wear N95s -  we get 2 and wear one every other day, so they are good for 10 working days.  I generally spray the one I wear with a spritz of disinfectant before storing it for the day after.  At home, I use disposable masks and toss them after each wear.

I have cute a few of them and I wash them once a week, but again I do not go out as much either, I only use it when go to grocery store, home depot or Lowes since it is mandatory to wear one Indoors here in Virginia.  My husband had problems with wearing mask feels like he is suffocating, i have just ordered him a different style with some vent on a side see if it works better for him.  WE work on the DC area and they already send information that when our buildings (2 different ones, 2 different companies) open we will need to use a mask all day.  So hopefully he can get used to them.

I don't wash mine after every use.  It rather depends on the situation where I am wearing it.  Mostly, I just go to the grocery store, drug store, bank, or Post Office.  I just acquired a new mask so I can change out.  However, to answer your question, I washed my mask every third or fourth wearing for the most part.

I really don't think they are washing their facial masks on a daily basis.  People are lazy so they may wash it one time a week.

Mine is washable but I don't wash it every time I use it partly because I have a filter that I use that's in the mask that's in between so mask doesn't touch my mouth.

I don't wash my masks. I wear disposable ones, but I tend to use them multiple times.

I know people are reusing disposable masks.  You can't get them so throwing them away after one use is likely not happening.  And people do not have 4-5 or them so I doubt they are washing them either.  I just left Lowe's and the girl had her mask down around her chin.  When I asked her a question she put it up over her face (guess she did not want to breathe close to me) and then pulled it back down.  If you are touching it all day you are defeating the purpose anyway.

@pectacon - If washing it does not do any good then wearing it does not do any good either. Just sayin

I do not agree that not washing the mask or reusing a mask makes the person lazy.  People are too judgmental.
A lot of people do not seem to realize IF you are buying in to the mask hype and you are wearing one you need to keep your hands off the mask and you need to wash it or throw it away after you use it.
