Schools in the Fall....USA

What are people's thoughts about schools in the Fall?

Have one grandson going into 3rd grade.  Don't know how they'll keep kids and teachers safe from the virus. Staggered learning and ma6be masks. Eating in the classroom.my other 4yr old grandson went back to daycare 3 days a week not sure how their doing that.

I hope all schools will be able to be open come August or September. I think distance learning is okay for some kids, but others need that socialization that comes with going to school or a homeschooling situation where they have a cooperative with other families. My kids are in college and they had to do distance learning for the last part of the school year. Neither one of them liked it much and are ready for college to start back in the fall. They enjoy their classes, their campus apartments, the friends they make there, the foods choices, etc., and are happy to go back if the campus opens back up in the fall, which the administrators are planning on doing.

I have heard that they will probably be open but just strict with social distancing though I think that will be hard in school.

Not sure what the question is.  The kids have got to go back to school.  They can't all just be grade school drop outs.  And they are not going to do the school from home.  They were suppose to here but the kids in the neighborhood did not do anything.  A lot of people in my county do not have internet and some areas do not even have access to internet.  So that is not possible any way.  I have heard rumor (from a teacher just repeating what she had read people were posting on facebook) of a few different ideas.  I think it is all foolish.  They need to just have school and stop pretending there is some big threat of breathing next to someone else or touching something someone else has touched.

On the upside there should be plenty of jobs because they will need a few hundred people walking around "sanitizing" everything as soon as it is touched.

I do think they will try to mandate a cov vaccine to attend school and if they do I think a lot of parents will pull their kids out and home school.

    What about "outdoor school classrooms"- weather permitting.
     I think it is "an excellent solution to indoor air pollution".

I hope not, I still think its somewhat risky to send them back.

I agree that they need to go back, my youngest daughter is in College and she finished her semester at home, but in order for her to graduate next Spring she needs to do some Lab classes and those have to be in person, so she really is looking forward to going back.

I have a 4 years old grandson (be 5 in December) and he was accepted for Headstart, received email saying he should start September 1, but who knows.  Here in the county where we live are thinking on different scenarios, from divided shifts (1 group goes morning another afternoon) to Middle and HS will be half home and half in building, to no lunch in cafeteria, wearing mask at all times to holding off start til January! which I think is ridiculous, but lets wait and see.

My 3 years old granddaughter's Pre-school is about to open but they have made provisions to have 1 teacher and 7 kids per classroom, my granddaughter will not go back til September, but there are parents that will need to go back to work soon.

Right now, I haven't heard of any schools cancelling for the fall, so it looks like they'll try a return to normalcy. Hopefully they can find ways to keep students and teachers safe!

I am undecided as of now, they need to wait until closer to new scholl year to decide and just be prepared for anything

Well obviously the kids need to GO TO SCHOOL.  They are not going to learn anything from home.  Most would not do any thing any way.  Guess we could do the everybody gets a trophy and just pass everybody.  A stupid kid that grows in to a stupid adult is easier to control. Def do not want people who can read and think for themselves.

I think if they can find a way to safely open, then they should; but that is a long shot. I substitute teach with the local school district at the elementary level, primarily with Pre-k and Special Ed children; it will be difficult for those students to walk around with masks all day and trying to get them to maintain social distancing is another challenge. Our local school district has not come up with an exact plan as of yet; they are getting inputs from teachers and parents as to different ways to educate in the fall. Distance learning does not work for all students; then their is the whole issue of school buses how to distance children; so many variables ; but I am sure they will work it out in a manner that keeps everyone safe as humanely possible.

They are talking about a 3 hour day in my area so that the same number of children can be educated just 1/2 of them at a time for some distancing and time to clean in the break.  Then part of their work could continue to be done on computers from home.  Anyway they do it some children will do excellent and some will have problems since the 3 hours will be more intense.  I think they do need some socialization.  Will be interesting to see what happens with little league and other sports.  Baseball and soccer seem like the easiest to come back since they are not usually all in one spot like basketball or wrestling.

It is honestly still confusing as to what they are doing here in my state with school. I do know that my child benefits more actually being at school than trying to learn at home.
