We haven't had those problems recently. In fact, I think that some of our planned fireworks shows will be cancelled due to COIVD this year

I just read that Minneapolis had almost 300 complaints about fireworks this June, which is 30 times more than last year. I'm not in Minneapolis, but I've heard fireworks nearly every night since the George Floyd incident. Not sure if they're related or just coincidence.  ???

There have been complaints from around the country from people in major protest cities. Many suspect that the police in these cities have been setting them off as a form of psychological warfare to disturb protesters and citizens and cause unrest (which is clearly working).

Here's a link to fireworks being set off behind a NY police precinct:
https://twitter.com/AnneMarcelleN/status/1274540444253388800

There were also rumors that they were distributing them to young people. Also, we are coming out of a major pandemic that caused a record number of people to file for unemployment. Who can afford to buy so many fireworks to set them off throughout the night for several many weeks on end?
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge
This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)

Fireworks are illegal here, but they are shot off all the time for almost a month now.  People get the fireworks, the good ones, from Mexico & bring them up to the states,  & you can pretty much buy the illegal awesome ones pretty much everywhere here in SoCal -- seems everyone knows someone with the illegal firework connection. Police haven't been enforcing the no firework ordinance apparently, so it's just wild this year.  Surprised we haven't been having wildfires yet.

Yeah, lotta fireworks lately. Usually they get shot off a day or two before the fourth, but this year people been doing it for weeks.

Probably sticking to the Gov (since they're technically "illegal") over the Lockdown/BLM business.

But Like CG said- The Cops generally don't care.

Google JediJohnnie and May the Force be with you!

Yes. It has being going on for about 2 weeks now. My poor dog has been sleeping in my closet at night since it started. She hates fireworks, loud booms and thunder. My closet is her safe space.

Not yet luckily, but they will soon. I hate this time of year. The fireworks scare my horse so bad I'm afraid she's going to go through a fence.

It has been completely quiet at night where I live in northern NJ, but in NYC people are having terrible problems with not being able to sleep at night because of the jerks who are setting off fireworks at all hours. There have even been some accidents with the fireworks that have hurt people. It's a shame.

Where I live there are specifics dates and times where you can use fireworks, according to law.  There has actually been fewer fireworks around my neighborhood this year thus far, but I shouldn't say much as they might start going off as they have in the past.  However, it is hot and dry around here at present and the weathermen are warning fires may be easily started.  That frightens me a little as I have a nut that lives near me who sets then off at all hours day and night in the past.  I am thinking of reporting him if this happens this year.
