1 in 4 individuals being tested in Houston are showing positive.  Texas has over 180,000 cases in Texas alone.  The governor has finally figured it out and issued a mask order to fight the virus. However, he still lets restaurants open at 50% capacity but is not supporting local areas in issuing orders according to need.  This is an indication of the virulence of this virus when it sees an opening and when denial, refusal, and ignorance rules.  Sustained economic growth is not going to happen until the virus is brought under a modicum of control. Wherever you are, stay home if it is not essential!

I am staying home and being careful.

People who test positive for the antibodies don't always show any symptoms at all. The latest statistic I heard about the death rate from the virus is under 2%.

I still say there is an overblown sense of fear about a virus. And I think the fans are flamed by the media and others that tend to profit off the hysteria.

Those who are vulnerable should be more cautious until the season passes. The rest of us should go about business as usual and be as vigilant as you would be normally in the flu season. Just my take on it.   :dontknow:

The problem regarding Covid encompasses a number of things.  One is that you can be asymptomatic so you can pass it along easily, especially if you are not taking precautions.  However, if you live with others, they are probably going to get it.  The other issue is that people who recover have been known to have serious lung, heart, kidney, and neurological issues.  Issues that they will suffer with for a long time, if not forever.  They are also finding that people who have been hospitalized for a long period are having emotional/mental issues such as PTSD.  I have an acquaintance who is an RN, who told me that the blood clotting issue is real.  Patients who have the condition seriously can have blood so thick they can hardly fill a vial.  The ultimate problem is that none of us know who is going to be hit hard.  Covid is spreading among the 20-40 age group! Covid is NOT the flu for Some!!!

Oh no, that's very alarming! Our numbers are climbing in Arkansas too.

I'm glad wearing masks is becoming required. Hopefully we start to see a change in the number of infections.

covid is  not going away. Wearing a mask and social distancing are about the best things we can do do to stop the spread.Masks are mandatory in Ma. and will be for quite a while.
Stay healthy and safe :rose: :rainbow: :peace:

Doubt it. Wearing a mask does not keep you from getting sick. It offers no protection at all. The ones you purchase say that on the box and actually list cov as one of the things it will not protect against. The ones people make are no better or the lose fitting bandana. I guess they will have to come up with something else if they mandate a mask every where and their fake numbers are still sky rocketing.

🙄

Anyway, it's getting really scary here. I'm staying in and wearing a mask when I need to go out. I have family members that are at-risk and I don't want to harm them. Stay safe, fellow Houstonians.

The amount of people testing positive, the numbers has continued to increase an the number hasn't stop rising.  This is because some stores have decided to open their stores/business.  Why are these people still not wearing a facial mask?  Do they still think this is a prank, with all those thousands of people who are dead - IDIOTS

I read this article about "False Positives" while the testing goes on and on, noone really knows if it's a true positive or not:

FDA warns of false positives with certain COVID-19 tests

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration alerted clinical laboratories and healthcare providers on Monday about false positive results from one of Becton Dickinson and Co's COVID-19 molecular diagnostic tests.

The test, designed to detect viral nucleic acid from the virus that causes COVID-19, is in use in nearly every state across the U.S. at hundreds of laboratories.

In one study, the manufacturer found about 3% of the results were false positives, according to the FDA.

The health regulator said it was working with Becton Dickinson to resolve the issue.
Becton Dickinson is selling a variety of other types of tests for the coronavirus. The FDA on Monday granted emergency use authorization to the company's COVID-19 antigen test that can be administered at the point of care, with results within 15 minutes.

I guess they will have to come up with something else if they mandate a mask every where and their fake numbers are still sky rocketing.

As confirmed cases of Covid continue to rise, the CDC is recommending that everyone wear a cloth mask when they go out in public.  Experts say the homemade masks won't protect someone from getting the disease, but they can help prevent the spread of the disease by those with the virus.

"It is becoming increasingly clear that all people should be wearing masks while out in public.  Masks are a likely reason why the virus has been better controlled in China, S. Korea, Japan, and other countries," Dr. Subinoy Das, chief medical officer of Tivic Health and the chief executive officer of the U.S. Institute for advanced Sinus Care and Research, stated.

Rodney Rohde, PhD, chair of the Clinical Laboratory Science program and associate dean for research at the College of Health Professions at Texas State university stated: "You can go out in public areas without a mask if there is no one nearby.  Otherwise, regardless if it's close quarters or spaced out, you should wear a mask.  The coronavirus will go through cloth and bandanas...but it will provide a bit of respiratory protection, which can reduce depositing of droplets of the virus on surfaces and people near you."

Another physician said, "Wearing a mask is good for two reasons: It's going to cut down 95 percent of the breathing that sends the virus up to 6 feet away in a room, and also will reduce fecal/oral transmission by preventing the virus from getting into your nose or mouth" if you touch a contaminated surface and then your face."

Still another doctor said that masks may lead to a false sense of protection.  Distancing and hand washing are extremely important.  "If you put on a mask and then go into a store and touch everything, your risk is going up." Proper handling is another important factor.

So everyone, keep safe and use common sense!!!

Agree, use common sense.  Look at places who have had masks being worn, the numbers were down until they let up on this.  Now they are going back to must wear masks all over.  Wear your mask, social distance and wash your hands often.
