Phishing emails
« on: August 07, 2020, 10:16:23 am »
Be careful with your emails. I'm getting a lot of phishing emails lately. Usually they're for company accounts that I haven't had in more than 10 years. Easy to know they are fake and I report them to the individual companies. Two days ago, I got one from PayPal notifying me of a purchase I made (no I didn't), so I closed that email and opened PayPal (never do it from the email itself), and sure enough it was another fake one. My balance was still the same.

These criminals are getting smarter and I'm tired of spending time sending these on to the company the email "represents," I've got better things to do. I also get emails from a person representing so-and-so stating I have money coming. So far I've amassed a fortune of $1 Billion.  :D :D ;)

Thanks for the info. If I don't know or I am not familiar I unsubscribe, mark as junk and delete.

I appreciate the information. I get these e mails relatively regularly. I also report them to the individual companies. Just a few days ago, I received an e mail from PayPal saying my account was locked and to click on a link to verify my identity. I reported it and then deleted the e mail. Even though these e mail are easy to spot, you can click on the senders name to see where it’s really coming from. I’m glad that I’ve never received a fake e mail related to Fusion Cash.

Thanks for the info and the heads up.  I try not to open anything that is from someone that I know.  However, I do get some things that really seem legit.  Scary world out there.

Same here. Criminals have been sending me fake emails impersonating companies like Paypal and Amazon trying to get my personal information. If the emails look fake, do not reply or click on any links, instead report those emails as phishing scam and delete them immediately.

It goes in spurts for me. I will spam or unsubscribe to a whole bunch and then all of a sudden I will start getting them again and then I have to go through the process all over again.
