RBG
« on: September 19, 2020, 02:53:29 am »
As if we needed any extra incentive to vote this year, the next 40+ days leading up to the election (and the few months afterward, depending upon whether Trump or Biden wins) has just gotten 1,000 times more interesting. With the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, God rest her soul, the tone and focus of the November election is going to take a significant change. Prior to her death, I knew there was a good chance that her seat on the court would become vacant during the next Presidential term - which greatly impacted my vote in November. Now that she has died before that next term, it solidifies the need to re-elect Donald Trump (or conversely - makes it that much more important for many others with different belief systems to make sure that Trump does not get re-elected).

But there is a strong likelihood that Trump makes a nomination to fill her seat and the Republican majority Senate moves forward with confirmation hearings. My personal prediction [hope] is that Amy Coney Barrett is nominated sometime in the next week or two by Trump and sworn in sometime before the next inauguration in January of 2021.

Regardless of how things progress, one thing is for certain. We are about to see new levels of hatred and venomous liberal attacks upon both Trump and his nominee. I pray for whomever her chooses that they have a thick skin and a strong family - neither of whom deserve the slander that is about to come their way.

Trump should definitely nominate someone to the court. The Democrats would if they controlled the White House and Senate.

I agree totally with your assessment of the next 40 days. I am somewhat upset that this is just another reason for the Dems and TDS people hate Trump for no reason except that he was getting things done and isn't controlled by any power hungry lobbyist or certain people in Congress. They have tried everything to get him out of office and it all failed and backfired on them. You would think she would give up after 4 years and just try to get along with him and the Republican party. I am so weary of the fighting in Congress and get nothing else done except attack Trump.

Yesterday, Pelosi stated that maybe they should impeach Trump again. For what???? She has said she has a lot of arrows in her quiver. She thinks she's so smart but she hasn't succeeded yet.  The hate is ridiculous. I think she needs to retire, same with Schumer when his re-election comes up, along with a few others. I pray people wake up enough to see the danger these past 4 years have done to our country because their egos are bigger than their brains.

Well-informed opinion. You were way ahead of me on your information, UGetPaid. I hope President Trump gets this done a.s.a.p.

It is the constitutional responsibility of the President to name a nominee to the SC.

Meh, honestly, I have to agree with one of the posters in this thread. I understand some of the hulla-baloo about this "president" selecting a replacement for RBG, especially since he is a lame duck (and a lame brain). But if he loses, Biden can probably replace the replacement in a matter of months, I believe.

You are wrong on two counts. Trump is only a lame duck if he loses the election - so he is not one yet. And even if he does lose the election - his placement of Amy Coney Barrett on the Supreme Court is not something Biden could unwind. She is a lock at this point.

Hmmm funny how the Republicans adamantly refused to do it when Obama was in office and a place needed to be filled. Several of them stated that the "New elected POTUS" should do it. And so it was done that way, because Obama wasn't a total a$$ like Trump. But now, even though TrampTrump was one of those that voiced all that back then, he and McConnell are both choking (I wish) on their words. They are both scum of the Earth and need to be thrown to the lions. No one will EVER convince me otherwise!!

In that case, I won't even try to convince you. I'll just say that you are wrong and leave it at that.
But even when you are wrong you are right - no one will EVER convince you otherwise! ;)
