Are we still on for trick or treating?
« on: October 19, 2020, 09:20:25 am »
I've heard some rumblings about certain places wanting to cancel trick or treating this year for covid.  Seems like we're always hearing California news instead of our own local info. We haven't really heard anything here so I guess I'm still going to buy some candy. What's going on in your areas? Will you be answering the door?

Some people are going to let their kids out, I am going to buy some candy also, just in case.

If everything else is closed then this needs to be cancelled as well.  No I won't answer the door.  I don't participate in Halloween.  Never have.  Not much activity on my street anyway.  Most kids go to the business sponsored ones.  It is kind of appalling that the hospital does not allow visitors and people are dying with no family around them but they are still having their halloween party inviting every kid in the county. ::)

I know our church is collecting wrapped candy for the elementary schools in our area that are hosting Halloween events.  We usually don't have very many trick or treaters at our door, but I will probably put a basket of candy on the porch and the little participants can help themselves until it's gone.  I'm just amazed at the many people who are not following the safety guidelines.  I'm so thankful my children were able to enjoy the tradition in simpler times.

It depends on the area...some are probably more likely to have it than others...I'm not sure what my area is

I've lived here 13 years and have never had a trick or treater.  I always buy some candy though just in case.  I think the governor of our state said it is still on.  :pumpkin: :pumpkin: :pumpkin: :pumpkin:

I hope I get trick or treaters. I would hate to have to eat all my candy by myself.

We don't get trick or treaters no kids live on my street.  If I had kids they wouldn't be tick or treating this year for sure.  I think it needs to be cancelled everywhere.

In my area it's been like people just driving by getting treats.  Trick or trunk something like that they call it.  Kids just don't go knocking on doors anymore.  My street doesn't have many houses and it's pretty dark so I never had to many stop any way.

It's Trunk or Treat. lol  Kids DO still go knock on doors.  Just depends on the area. Some areas of my county where there are a lot of houses still have a lot of kids going door to door.  I have not heard anything about any mandates.  I would assume our county mayor would say do whatever you are comfortable with.  Considering it is only 10 days until Halloween.  I have not really heard anything one way or the other.

Last year we got like 3 kids at the door. Then Nov 1 it was just me and a costco size bag of candy... and I had to get my moneys worth. lol

It has been cancelled in my city.  What they are doing is several police cars will go to a local park, spread around a little with trunks full.  The kids then just go from police car to police car to get their candy.
