Pope speaks out RE support for gays
« on: October 25, 2020, 08:25:00 am »
I created this topic cos im curious to hear what others here have to say about this.

Im sure some of U know i support the bible and God views it as a sin.

If U care to comment about it give your reason why you support it or not.

Lets keep it civilized.

OK, I’ll go.  I know you think it’s a sin.  I have two friends who are lesbian and one friend who is gay (it’s a man).  Out of my 3 sets two are married.  One of the woman was married and has 2 kids (grown) and of the guys they are married and my friends partner was married and has 1 son (grown).  Honestly all 6 are ‘normal’ people, all have great jobs, beautiful homes and dress and look and act completely ‘normal”. I have been in all their homes and they all have been in mine.  I use the word normal because some people cannot accept they are just like us, Donnamarg,  I’m not referring to you please believe me.  They do not act lovey or kissy in front of me, nor do I act like that with my husband, I don’t want to see that from gay or straight people.  If you can’t keep your hands off each other, then take it into the bedroom.  Anyway, at first I was somewhat taken back with them, but as I got to know and love them I realize they are just like us, and deserve to be happy and in love, and if it’s with the same sex who am I to judge?  I’m sure I’ll get quite a few negative replies but this is what I feel.

Nancy TY for reply.

I also have friends that are gay.

God also says every life matters. But he also speaks RE being gay just like being drunk.

I also look at like this.I have a friend who smokes.I wouldnt let them smoke in my car or house. But i also still love em.

You cant just support half the bible. All of it is Gods word. The pope obviously doesnt as many others dont as well.

Question is,how much do we wanna obey it?

I guess what really bugs me is the ignorance associated with how people see homosexual individuals. I mean outside of a difference in sexual orientation, what is there to ground this idea that a homosexual person is so drastically different that they are seen as abnormal?
"Let me ask you something. If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use was the rule?"

Bible says wrong. God says wrong. I say wrong. Still gotta love 'em, but not necessarily agree with their lifestyle.  :angel11:

Guess you will just have to ask Jehovah.

Do U think destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was a fairytale?

It really is quite simple.God doesnt approve of anyone going after flesh unnaturally.Theres NO love in it.And more disease.

I don't believe in the bible and I'm not religious.  I don't care what other consenting adults choose to live their lives.  I have several gay relatives and my family has always loved and accepted them no matter what.

Well....I think the question is...do you view civil union as being different than marriage?

I don't have any problem with it at all. Kudos on the Pope for acknowledging this.

Matthew 19:5-6
King James Version

5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Well....I think the question is...do you view civil union as being different than marriage?

Well, I agree that they should be recognized and be allowed to have a Civil Union but not a Religious Wedding.  They are entitled to their life choices like any of us and should not be punished for it.

Civil union?LOL!

Is committing  adultry a civil union?2 people agreeing to be with each other and having sex even if they have a spouse?

Life choices?A thief shouldnt be punished for that if that was his choice?

Remember who the judge is here. Not sure entitled is correct word here.

Not really UGP but i knew i couldnt use the word Catholic without U being in equation.

Plus im sure there are others here that are catholic.

U should be more *issed at Pope then me bringing it forward.I didnt bring it forword cos of U.I did cos its truth and U know *am well it contradicts bible. But sadly thats what the ruler of this world has done with Christendom.

I have no prob with U.I have a prob with Christendom from the bible perspective.
