I had a whole family of raccoons this summer: mom, and 6 babies come and eat the cat's food. I would open the door but they didn't run. They were just curious but I wasn't about to go out and mingle. We tried to get photos of them but through the screen door, we got good photos of the screen and through the side glass door panel, it showed horror creatures. So gave up. We would talk to them through the screen door. But, if we opened the screen door a little, they would run. I started bringing the food in at night and now they just come to wash their paws in the cats water bowl. Some mornings, the water is so dirty, but it's getting better. I think they've moved on. Meanwhile, my hubby has been feeding a fox and its little ones. But we haven't seen them in a couple weeks. The mom used to come to eat and if there was nothing there, just sit there looking at the garage because that's where the food came from that big 2-legged thing. Now he's bummed because that was a bright spot in his life. The neighbor's security camera caught one on his camera with a broken leg.
But we also had 3 grandhogs that would come to eat at the same time the ferals would eat. It was strange watching a fox and cat eating together or a groundhog and cat eating together. Grandhogs have now disappeared, too.
