Twitter, Facebook shuts presidential accounts January 20
« on: December 28, 2020, 02:43:50 pm »
 :cat:

Both Twitter and Facebook promised back in November to hand over control of all presidential accounts on Jan. 20, 2021, forcing Team Trump to cede position-specific handles @POTUS, @FLOTUS and @VP to incomers Joe Biden, Jill Biden, and Kamala Harris, respectively. The same goes for @WhiteHouse, @PressSec, @Cabinet and @LaCasaBlanca.

"As we did in 2017, Twitter is actively working with the U.S. government to support the transition of Twitter accounts across administrations, so that the incoming Biden administration will have access to institutional White House Twitter accounts," the company said in a statement.

So whats the big deal?Im sure its ok for Trump to still have his own personal acct and all his followers.

Or some other social media page.

I guess we will see how much he wants to be in Limelight.Knowing him i dont think he will fade away like a fart.

Trump loves the limelight, so with his ego and arrogance he is not going down easily.  The man should have conceded his loss, but like the loser he is, he is trying to get the Georgia Senator to do a recount.  What a coward.

In the world we live in,if cheating happens nothing would surprise me either. But lets face it,this country was marked by 2020 what happened and Trump didnt handle it well from the beginning.Whoever was in office might have had the same fortune he had....but he set a bad example from start.

My biggie with him is how he handled the JWs being persecuted in Russia especially after his SIL got a good deal buying Watchtower building.Ill admit i dont like his arrogance either, but if he went to bat for the JWs i woulda overlooked a lot from him.He didnt.BYEEEEEEEEE!!I dont expect Biden to help either the situation there as well.

The times will be rough ahead for anyone who is president of the US.

it appears Trump was caught on tape trying to blackmail the GeorgiaThe Secertary of State. Brad Raffersberger. Apparently one of his people leaked it to the Washington Post. I haven't listened to it yet

It makes sense that they would have to change the account.

There are so many social media accounts available, so it would not make a difference in signing up accounts under a different name.  What's the big deal?

My understanding is that Trump's personal accounts have all been closed.  Does he still have access to and able to use the govt accounts???

All I know is on January 20th, he will be out of our house and the way he acted, he can forget about running in 2024 but some people are just as crazy as he is.

Something must have changed because what I saw said the followers will be reset to zero and you will be asked if you want to continue to follow and you say yes or no. I plan to manually unfollow on the 19th if it is something that will transition over to the new admin. Have no interest in what the dementia patient has to say.

Control of the account will transition to the new admin. That is a given. I don't know that most people even gave a lot of thought to following.  I figured control would just transfer and if you wanted to no longer follow you would have to do it yourself. I will do that myself anyway because I am an adult and I control what I do.  But honestly it should be reset to zero and he has to build his own following.  And just because a person follows an account does not mean they support that person.  Some people follow just to see what is being said.  JS.
